Essential Android Apps

I'm on the stock one on the Galaxy S II at the moment but I have to admit, it's pretty damn awful. I've never seen a mobile browser crash and bug out as much as it does.

Third party apps *** :p

Should try out the ones I have mentioned and plus miren :p as they are great browsers and much better than any of the stock browsers IMO, although the stock one on the GS 2 is the smoothest out of them all for scrolling.

I most certainly will give them a try later on. I wonder why the Galaxy S II stock one is so dodgy though, other than that it's quite ok.

App suggestion - Quickpic.

Not sure, are you rooted with a custom ROM or any tweaks at all, also try clearing data/cache in application settings for browser, that may help.

Yup, very good gallery app.

Yup, but don't like the way they render the pages, as they just look terrible for me compared to others especially opera mini and also when loading image webpages e.g. post your mobile homescreen, the images look really blurry.

But they are extremely quick.

Anyone knows an app that makes the phone join your home network via wifi, so you can browse your PC folders&files from your phone? I want to stream media from my pc, the phones memory is tiny ( bah 16gb SGS2, why do they release phones with so little space, I came from a 32gb phone, and nah I'm broke, cant afford an sd card atm). Much appreciated :).

You can change image quality settings, it defaults to medium quality to save bandwidth.

or Astro + Astro SMB module

Or grab Audiogalaxy or Subsonic. Subsonic is 10 euro, or free if you compile it yourself but will take 30+ minutes of hassle to set up and compile.

Anyone know of a way to get around the iPlayer app preventing me from streaming over 3g? Just built myself a Khaan car mount and want to use it on my travels :D

Speaking of iPlayer. I can get to keep playing with the phone in sleep by messing around with it but seriously, is it not coded to run in the background AT ALL?

Receive an SMS/IM and it dies. Damn annoying.

Essential ;)
