Essential Android Apps

Anyone know of a simple app that save locations on? Want to mark them down as I go places so I know where I was.

Probably need a little more context here. Day to day Google Latitude can do this for you.

If it's a holiday or outing, Trip Journal is pretty good.

Until GoLauncher allows me to turn off the dock bar and implements some sort of pop-up dock like ADW EX, I won't be changing :)

I love the fact I can expand my screen into the dock area, makes my scabby little 3.2" screen look much bigger :D

Go Launcher is good, better than LP in my opinion (I used LP for months then switched to ADW EX and never looked back :)

It's a really fast launcher too, only downfall is the severe lack of updates - he seems to have abandoned it to be honest... Maybe he's working on ADW2, but there's nothing else in the pipeline other than the early alpha that was scattered around xda

Go launcher can do this and has been able to for aaaaaaaages.

I click my thumb down and my dock slides off screen, upwards and my notification bar goes. Check dettings-gestures I think it is

Just checked. Preferences - operation settings is what you want fella :D

what battery icon % indicator is that? I tried this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/search.php?searchid=89586141 but it sucks, some of the numbers don't even fit within the battery icon:o

infact, is it a theme? your wifi and clock icons don't look stock either.

I use GingerMOD ROM which uses the stock AOSP Gingerbread framework with modded battery icon.

It's the best combination of Gingerbread theme + Samsung goodies.

Nope, it will hide the dock, but you can't use that space for widgets (I have switchpro right down the bottom)... that section of screen is still "used"

With ADW EX you can literally turn the main dock off and just use the secondary hidden dock :)

(I too swipe up for show/hide dock and down for show/hide statusbar :))

I had a lot of notes with Gtasks. I then installed Astrid and synced it with Google tasks. They showed up in Astrid but they have now somehow all been deleted except they note titles! Argh!
Totally not cool.

Any idea if I can get back my notes via google? Guess it's unlikely

Problem is with GoLauncher is that it's slow, even with high quality scrolling disabled - the thing is extremely slow.

There's slight lag when switching screens which is excusable, but rotation is extremely slow. Sometimes when switching from landscape to portrait or visa versa, icons can sometimes appear after others rather than all than once.

Running it on a Galaxy SII which is odexed, with a compressed framework so more available RAM than stock....

Problem???

What version are you running?

I certainly don't find it slow, scrolling is smooth and quick and rotation is swift as well and all widgets on screen seem to rotate on time. It was the same on my HTC Desire and it is now on the S2.

I found it slower than launcher pro last time i tried it, but with recent updates it's just as quick, imo. Rotation is very smooth and quick, not sure what the issue is there.

Anyone notice increased battery drain when using Llama? With it monitoring so much, I would imagine it's not so good?

Nope, it just polls your network mast list (and time or whatever you have enabled) once every 5 minutes. I have not had any noticeable battery drain as a direct result of Llama. I guess if you use gps or tell it to search for wifi all the time then it will have an affect but in normal Llama usage it only polls stuff that is readily available instantly via an API.

Can someone post a link to the Sky+ app, I've seen reviews for it saying there is an Android equivalent, but I can't find it on the market or app brain.
