Essential Android Apps

It's been available for a long time and many people on here, including me, are running it.

Thoughts? What is so different about the mod? I hear many people rave about it.

I noticed 7.10 is not stable... so hardly been out for "ages", 7 days isn't long.

I've gone back to Samsung based ROM (Leomar). While CM7 is fast and stuff I found some bugs with brightness control and the stock browser is not hardware accelerated, neither is any of the OS itself like Samsung ones are. Video playback was OK using MX Video player but not as swift as Samsung's own system.

How is the battery life on CM7? Because Samsung didn't release sources for the RIL (I think), it was never as good on the original Galaxy S, but a whole heap faster than the stock ROMs. With the S2 it's so darn fast on the stock ROMs anyway there's not *that* many real advantages to CM7 any more as Android is so customisable, even with a Samsung ROM.

I just use a standard Samsung rom and rip out the crap i don't want with Titanium Backup, runs plenty fast too me especially the 2.3.5 based versions and get all the benefits of hardware acceleration.

AI Keyboard is now released out of beta and been playing around, I really like it, I like the alt feature where it has buttons for cursor, copypaste and so on, very handy. Prediction and error correction also seems very good as it was known for this during the beta. It is FREE too and allows full customisation for the keyboard theme.

I have too many keyboards installed now.

Damn right!

My only gripe is that it lacks the ability to change long press delay. I love 250ms instead of the default 500.

A lot of other keyboards have arrow keys too but they place them below the bottom row of keys and some people find it takes up extra room.I likeit on Thumb keyboard though, especially once you customise the keyboard dimensions!

I just found a bug on AI keyboard as well, when posting on this forum the autocorrect feature stops working above the KB.

Swiftkey has them, you have to press the numbers button and then the symbols button though :(. Or you can have them on the actual keyboard part, but that messes with the layout so I don't have them showing there.

I like the undo part on that keyboard, but copy/paste I just use long press as it's easier imo.
