Essential Android Apps

I use it but unsure how to backup the home screen. Would I simply do one for Apex? Or the individual apps used in my setup (SimiFolder, UCCW and Desktop VisualizeR)?

Just installed the Nova beta update (for those wondering, you can easily access the beta by going to Nova settings, Check for updates, then pressing the menu button and selecting Beta. Once installed, you can go back there and set it to check for updates automatically). Must say that it is definitely slightly smoother than before (noticeably so, but not to a make-or-break extent).

What, that!? Sorry but its ****. I have a google map 'my places' I dont want to have to start again.

The new Google maps app does not have the my places function.
What this app does is save your stared, saved places. One click and it opens up the Gmaps app for you and you can choose to search or navigate directly. Until Google brings back the My Places function this is the best thing.

when you backup+restore via Ti - Nova restores as it is but you had to tap the screen to add widgets again, but their layout is still there, just need re-adding. You backup uccw and anything else via Ti too.

There is a My Places function, it's just a bit different.

Click the person icon at the right of the search bar. Takes you to a profile, and it lists your saved places.

Any decent launchers for Gingerbread (2.3.7?). Just installed a Mildwild ROM on my girlfriend's Desire and Apex/Nova aren't compatible. Boo :( She just wants a scrollable dock, really.

I use Navfree, just ensure you add the postcode addon (may be built in now) and it's pretty good.

Only used it within the UK but gone up and down the country and all over the shop without any major problems. It did have me flying across Newcastle at one point rather than using the road, but that's probably more a GPS signal issue than anything else!

Not an app but a cool ROM feature:

Covert camera :D:cool:

Another reason to go PAC Man :p

Hey has anyone else noticed what is imo THE BEST feature of Android 4.3?

Behold, you can now auto predict contacts via the dial pad!!!!!!!:eek::D:D:D:eek:

I am so incredibly happy. You just turn it on in the dialpad settings menu. Don't know why they didn't turn it on my default.

That is all.

I'm assuming you mean when you start typing the number it gives you suggestions for that number. If so Cyanogen had that already.
