Essential iPhone Apps

Thanks, downloading Rage HD now, is there any point in getting the non-HD version, IE will it run any smoother on older devices?

The HD one has higher resolution textures for iPad and iPhone4, so the non-HD one would probably run better on older devices :)

Thanks, I've got them both now, they are free after all.

It will be nice to have the HD version if I do ever get an iPad or a newer iPhone. :)

Downloaded Siege hero last night, free of course but what an awesome little game it is...keeping me busy on my way to work this morning...very addictive:p

I couldn'tget into TinyTowers - but gets good reviews - in fact V.good reviews

anyone tried "UK Map" looks good- but wondered if anyone on here tried ?

was getting frustrated with maps on hols, it was useful to use iphone occasionally to see where you where - but very annoying when it locked onto your ocation but then took FOREVER to download the map segments, then if you zoomed in/out it took another age to reload etc

Also picked this up on the free offer. Good little game if you like Angry Birds. Would have happily paid for it.

I bought Uk Map yesterday. It's well worth he 6 quid as you can store all the 1:25k and 1:10k maps you dload. The maps don't have the Landranger level of detail (boundaries, fields, walls) but they have contours, footpaths etc. the 3d mode is amazing on the iPad too. Well recommended. The French IGN app is worth a look as well.

Very interesting, what's the footpath info like, is it any good for looking at walking routes and such like. Looking for a decent map to find walking routes in the breacon beacons.

Some paths are included but not all. I wouldn't necessarily use it exclusively when in the hills but it's an excellent companion to a Landranger, especially as it can give you an instant gps fix overlaid onto the map. If you need a total OSMap replacement then youre looking at Memory-Map, but thats quite a bit more expensive and doesnt (i think) give the 3d option on your tablet/phone. UkMap works really well on both iPhone and iPad, and for 6quid I can't fault it. For planning it's ideal.
