Essential iPhone Apps

If you have a Synology, look at the DS file app.
Or use Safari and type in the IP address of your NAS and port 7000 (or whatever port you have set up for file sharing)
eg 192.168.1.10:7000
 
I've personally been using Buzz Player for that as it doesnt need a server and can also copy the files across to the iPad for viewing when away from my LAN, can obviously stream when you are connected.

EDIT: I also prefer this to AV Player HD as it can also copy files over in the background so you can do other things on the iPad. AV Player HD needs to be in the foreground to copy files otherwise it pauses

With any luck they'll make it iPad compatible with an update.

I haven't had the chance to try it however, does it offer the ability to download shows for offline playback like the normal tv iplayer app does?

I’ve had a play and it’s all on demand streaming so no downloads for later listening apart from podcasts. It’s very rudimentary.

I'm such a big fan of StreamToMe, utterly amazing but doesn't play 1080p. It can stream over 3G too.

Air Video is exactly the same except StreamToMe can play audio and stream computer to computer (mac to mac).

The developer is really fast to respond too any questions, quite a friendly chap.

Splashtop!!!!!!

Sitting in bed.. with a 360 controller.. playing Dishonored.. on my PC.. VIA MY IPHONE!

It also means you can watch 1080p movies on your iPhone because it streams the audio too. All this for 50p (free on iPad). Sheesh.

EDIT: Wow 5 days after buying Splashtop, they release Splashtop 2 for completely free!

Guys, is it possible to play media files from a media player that is on my network (TViX) and stream them to my iPad?

I've looked at Buzz Player but cant figure out how to connect to the TViX and view the files?
