ESXi best vm software?

That's nothing to do with Hyper-V, it's virtualisation in general, with BES.

Ahh did not know that, I was advised by a PGP consultant that BPS wont run on Hyper-V, it's running ok on ESXi at the moment but we are sub 10 users hence why its BPS and not BES!

How are you finding BPS mate? We're considering going over to Blackberries for my company. Currently Exchange 2007 with mix of WinMo and iPhones!

Cheers.

I was contemplating a move to BB too for out 20 handheld users, but cant justify moving from a £6 addition to the tarrif for a data bundle to £22 for a blackberry bolton.....but thats a different thread

BPS is ok, no major problems. The IT policy settings are fairly comprehensive considering it is the free version! I've not tried to roll out any software on it though so cant comment there, but the options are there to do that.

It does what you want it to do, in the sense it just works and doesnt need a whole lot of administrating.

When you get to 30 users and need to upgrade to BES your BPS CALs are transferable I think which is quite a nice idea.

I've not had any exposure to full BES so cant compare but it fill all our requirments. I dont tend to log on to it very often as it just seems to tick away happily by itself without the need for too much administration.

We're on Exchange 2007 fine, there was not trouble intergrating once I had the MAPI controls installed. The biggest PITA has been O2 as they still insist on sending us BB that arent on our BB tariff so have to ring up and get that sorted out every time!

As far as I know, BES Express the new name for BPS. Dont quote me on that though!

I cant see them needing a third product in the server line.

just to let you know, i've been using ESXi and must say im very impressed, what are the advantages of purchasing a full license? (i dont need to but was just wondering for future refrence)

When i worked for as B-2-B company and sold VMWare for all companies with a requirement of 3 or less physical servers they all used Essentials or Essentials Plus if they needed HA as it was a cheap method if getting it. They were all very happy.

VMotion tends and Fault Tolerance tends to be the tipping point and this normally tended to be for people who worked 24/7 or into the NHS or more local PCTs
