I've pre-ordered this but I haven't received any info with regards to registering my nickname. Have I been screwed or something?

rofl, actually you do :) where did you order from? if you can say it

General idea is, if you havent received the info from a particular company, email them for the details as splash damage stated you should get them.

Paul discusses the bots that will be included with the game, community features such as statistics tracking, how the closed beta is progressing...

Haven't watched the interview so can't be 100% that the stats thing is similar to the BF2 one though.

Not watching all that, but I highly doubt its the same as BF2's stats. Even though stats are good and all for monitoring your performance etc they bring a whole range of idiots into a game tbh, people who end up getting obsessed with the game and people who end up teamkilling for vehicles or constantly raping spawns.

Point is I think its meant to be like RTCW, you have stats in that for each round, XP its called. The XP can be saved to the server forever or a set amount of time, so when you join it saves your rank and what not.

theres global stats, and campaign stats. Global is simply for the epeen public players, campaign is based on a 3map set that gets reset at the end of the 3rd.

Okay I see now on a competitor site:

"PRE-ORDER NOW to reserve your copy of the game AND receive a unique key code allowing you to reserve your Enemy Territory QUAKE Wars user name straight away (key codes and URL link sent electronically upon receipt of your-order). Note: this offer applies to pre-orders of BOTH the standard game AND the Limited Collector's Edition game."

If you've ordered from the same website that im looking at now I don't think you can contact them as they don't actually have an e-mail for that to my knowlodge, so contact activision personally.

Only 2 UK online stores are receiving the pre orders at this time. One of the stores send out the codes once weekly and the other will receive the codes to distribute this week. Those who pre ordered first will be first in line. Even, if you do receive your code you then have to wait for your game serial number to complete the reg process. (Allegedly)

The above info can be found in threads on the Splash Damage forum.

Not really heard about this but why is it so important to preorder your nick? Is it that likely someone else would take it?!?

Also what spec do you expect is needed to play the game? I was hoping to wait until I saw reviews as my system isnt the best (needs a reinstall for sure).

Is this still due in May?

Thanks

the dev demo using a single 8800 and core2d ran it spankingly well, but the new texture tech its been developed with means it will run on below avg pc's , but until its released it a case of ' how big is a hole' ?

I'm guessing that any PC with a decent 64 bit CPU and 1800/7800+ will run it extremely well.

The main point of registering your nick as once it's yours - it's yours. You don't change or mess with it, the Robert you see on X server will be the Robert you see on Y server.

Yeah I guess, I just know my Quake nick wont be used and Id rather get it when I know its fine than not, there seems be an alarming trend recently that games are released for final beta testing and needs a patch or 2 to fix it...

Im on (will be) 2GB Ram, Opty 165 and X1900XT so I should be fine then :)

The idea is that, if you can run quake4 then quake wars will run at the same quality. The beta is expected for release in the coming week or 2 to mass test any of the last few things they could check.

The game itself has been in beta stages for a good 5-6 months now i reckon, they have some top quality clans testing the competetive side of things and they have your average gamers playing in-house publics to see what they can break, and finally they have your beginner players (friend&family of devs) to see how easy the game can be to learn so they dont exclude players of any skill level. Really need to order myself a new pc as its getting so close :/

Something thats annoying about games such as BF2 is people register 100's of "unique" nicks such as "bang" or "crash" something like that, no idea why, people did it with AIM names and MSN etc they always do it.

I have a 3.06 GHz P4, 1 gig RAM, 9800 Pro and am expecting to be able to run the game on low - medium settings. I'm assuming the same quality as BF2 which is good enough for me.
