ETQW

Has it been confirmed whether or not it'll support widescreen? I'll be very annoyed if I've gotta play it stretched ala BF2

Im nigh on 100% certain you will play it in native widescreen

I have a 3.06 GHz P4, 1 gig RAM, 9800 Pro and am expecting to be able to run the game on low - medium settings. I'm assuming the same quality as BF2 which is good enough for me.

My 9800 pro ran Quake 4 quite decently, so i guess yea you *should* be ok

So has anyone here pre-ordered this and recieved the ability to setup their game name as their privilege? Dont think thats been confirmed or is this still to happen?

Bit confused about when we can do this and how long before the actual game comes out...

EDIT: Games out on 15th June it seems - might just preorder to do this and if the game turns out crap or delayed or something, cancel the preorder and grab it later, presume I would still got my in-game name sorted?!?...

Cheers

Ive pre-orderd and received no code for the nick register thing, i made a post a while back about this.
The release dates are given on the sites ** linked to , to preorder.

Performance wise if u can run quake 3 or doom 3 fine, etqw should be no problem
and as said above its pretty much a dead cert that it'll be widescreen.

ETQW is shader model 3 where as bf2 is only shader model 2, so will look the nuts tbh :p

Where did you get that release date from?

Where he pre ordered from which is speculative at best. June is a good bet in my books though.

Take part in the comp on the Splash Damage forum by, guessing the release date and win a copy of this game

Nice article here

Conclusion
QuakeWars is a mixture of Battlefield, Quake and Enemy Territory. It has taken the look and background from Quake, knocked it together with the feeling from Enemy Territory and then thrown in a lot of different things from Battlefield like vehicles that you can control. The game felt really good and thought through and if you look past some freezelag it felt like it was ready to be shipped out to the stores. If I am going to buy it? I already have.

I look forward to when the game will be finished because it will be interesting to see if a ”battlefield”-game finally could knock Counter Strike of the throne of team based computer games. It is time for a new game to become the largest and QuakeWars has every possibility to succeed in this!

Love this last statement

If it is SM3.0 then its not going to be played on a 9800pro or X800 series,
lets hope its got SM 2.0 support too otherwise people with older cards will be missing out when they shouldn't be.

Its not SM3 (DX9.0c?), its an id supported game so Id be very surprised if they have ditched OpenGL...

im on a 9800pro, 2.6 cpu etc and fully expecting to not be able to play it to a decent quality on this pc. I'd go fairly all out on a new pc, then turn down the graphics a little to make sure theres no stuttering or anything, will be playing quake wars at a highly competitive level with any luck.

Quote taken from a recent FAQ with Kevin Cloud, Co Owner of id Software/ETQW Creative Director. Paul Wedgwood, Owner of Splash Damage/ETQW Lead Game Designer.

Q13 - How about hardware - can you tell us about the system specs to run ETQW?

Minimum system specification optimisation does not start until the New Year, but you’ll definitely need a 3D graphics card 

The goal is to keep the minimum specification requirements as low as is feasible while maintaining a reasonable framerate for those players on low-spec systems (framerate being even more important for a multiplayer game than a single player one.) The game will also support the very latest hardware, including the next generation of graphics cards, processors, sound cards, widescreen displays and analogue controllers, allowing high-specification system owners to get the most from their game system.

Looking foward to this. BTW do 360/ps3 players play on same servers as PC ?

Didnt know it's due for the consoles.
If it does come out, then most likely, the resounding answer would be NO NO NO

yar game is muti platform. Guy said it in one of the interviews

Yes its being produced for ps3 and 360 BUT its not being made by splashdamage .... sot it'll suck. Also 360/ps3 players will NOT be able to play vs pc players, mostly because it would be entirely unfair and console gamers would die too often :/ seriously thats the reason, pc fps gaming > console fps gaming.

What would happen out of interest if someone was to pre-order it then they got the code and registered their name then canceled their order?
