Can't believe Spain won't be starting Fabregas. Absolute madness. But ah well, we all know what an idiot Aragones is.

Can't wait to see Russia. They have some quality players and could actually win the competition. Arshavin is absolutely brilliant.

Yep, you're right about Henry, but it obviously became clear that Henry was, a) needed and, b) their best striker :p.

I also completely agree with you about the LB's, Evra is the best in the squad and the fact Clichy didn't make it and Abidal did really does make you wonder if Domenech can manage a football side! Clichy and Evra have been fantastic this season.

He also refused to call up Anelka because he played in England.

Pogrebnyak is injured though IIRC, shame. He looks a fantastic player.
 
Spain have the best selection of centre midfielders in the world, starting without Fabregas is hardly "madness" when they have Iniesta, Alonso and Xavi who are all top class players.
 
Not playing Alonso either though is he?
It's madness to not play arguably one of the best 3 CM's in the world at the moment, certainly over the massively overhyped Xavi. Iniesta is a good player, but he's not been playing as long as Fabregas has nor is he anything close to being as consistent.

Well it is, because Fabregas is better than all 3 of them. Certainly 2 of them, anyway.

There's not a lot between Xavi, Fabregas and Alonso, all play similar positions and are all excellent passers of the ball. Fabregas had the best of it last season but I wouldn't be too dissapointed with any of them in my team. Iniesta offers something completely different and Spain would lose a big attacking threat if they were to leave him out today.

Bleeding good news if you ask me. Rest up in the Swiss/Austrian sun Cesc, it's one less game you'll have to play (not for Arsenal)/have a chance to get injured in.

Wenger himself stated that towards the end of last season he badly badly needed a rest. So this can only be a good thing :).

Aragones... leaving out Fabregas.


Greece - Sweden 1-0

Unfortantely Sweden are likely to be pants this time around. We have the oldest squad in the Euros. Only 1 of four defenders is a regular starter on Club level. Ibra is not yet 100% fit. We have Ljungberg as a captain, and he is way past his best.

The idiot head coach has decided to leave out Källström in favour of Daniel Andersson! Kim is a regular at Lyon FGS.

Sweden will not win a game.
 
Unfortunately yes.

Lagerbäck is bent on his catious defensive system, where offensive and flamboyant players like Kim aren't welcome.

By looking at polls in various Swedish publications, some 70% would like to see Kim as a starter... and the journalists and commentators also agree it is a very stupid decision.

But it was always like that with Lagerbäck. :(
