Was tempted to include Fabrehas but I think the above were far and away the best performers (though I am sure I have probably forgotten 1 player :p)
Gerrard? are you drunk?

Gerard had a good tournament. Few assists, constantly motoring on and driving England on. This is hard for me to say as well because I was banging on about leaving Gerard at home and taking Lampard :p

Would have replaced him with Fabregas after he final but he played too advanced a tournament really to be considered a CM.

He can quite happily play both, but Alba can't.

Whether he can play RB or not and whether he's (ability wise) the best right back who was at the tournament, it changes nothing.

The purpose of this thread was to pick a team based on their performances during the tournament. How can Lahm have been the best RB during the tournament when he never played there?

----------------Buffon---------------
Selassie--Ramos-----Hummels--Alba
----------------Pirlo----------------
------Xavi---De Rossi---Moutinho----
--------Dzageov----Iniesta----------

Its Euro best X1 though, best 11 players in a formation that you like. You can put Ronaldo up front or RW if you wish, Iniesta is CM for me but played more as a LAM for spain.

It's a Euro 2012 team, which means it's based on their performances during the tournament.

If you're going to pick players based on where they play for their club sides or anything other than during Euro 2012, it's no longer a Euro 2012 team and you may as well pick a European dream team.

Well, i thought Lahm, Cole, Alba, Pereira were the best wingbacks of the tournament. Went with Lahm's experience, Pereira probs had a better tournament actually thinking about it.

Why don't you put out your team, haven't seen you post one. Seems like you've come into the thread just to bash.

Bash? You seem slightly sensitive. I just find it strange that people are picking Lahm as the best RB at Euro 2012 when at Euro 2012 he didn't play there.

I'll post a team when I get home, it's a pain typing on my phone.

Squad of the Tournament

Arbeloa was the only Spanish first team player to miss out and Gerrard was the only English player to make the squad.

Goalkeepers: Gianluigi Buffon (Italy), Iker Casillas (Spain), Manuel Neuer (Germany).

Defenders: Gerard Piqué (Spain), Fábio Coentrão (Portugal), Philipp Lahm (Germany), Pepe (Portugal), Sergio Ramos (Spain), Jordi Alba (Spain).

Midfielders: Daniele de Rossi (Italy), Steven Gerrard (England), Xavi Hernández (Spain), Andrés Iniesta (Spain), Sami Khedira (Germany), Sergio Busquets (Spain), Mesut Özil (Germany), Andrea Pirlo (Italy), Xabi Alonso (Spain).

Forwards: Mario Balotelli (Italy), Cesc Fàbregas (Spain), Cristiano Ronaldo (Portugal), Zlatan Ibrahimović (Sweden), David Silva (Spain).

Probably because they played further forward although Iniesta played around the same area of the pitch on the left as Silva did on the right yet he's classed as a midfielder :/

yeah i get that, just seems a bit wierd, personally would accept them as attacking midfielders but not forwards.
