Euro 2012 Qualifiers 2/3/6 September ** Spoilers**

DominicKing_DM: Gary Speed has just referred to #England as 'one of the top four teams in the world'; presumably he's still in shock after Earnshaw's miss

Haha

Wales fan 'murdered' before England match at Wembley
Breaking news graphic

A man thought to be a Wales football fan has died following an incident before the team's match against England at Wembley.

The man, in his 40s, was taken to hospital with head injuries after emergency crews were called to an area outside the stadium at 19:20 BST.

He died in hospital shortly before 21:00 BST.

Six people have been arrested and police are treating the case as a murder inquiry.

just what the game needed

the fact that England were again awful for 70 minutes or so (apart from 10 mins either side of half time) doesnt count for anything when you hear about the fan dying - thoughts go out to his family and friends

No disrespect to Wales at all - Ramsey did very well, Bale did ok (am I being too harsh thinking he should have done a bit more?) , but as a whole Wales did well and should have really got a point (although Young, Lampard and Rooney squandered as easy a finish as any of Wales' chances to be fair)

edit - and personally I think the logic is flawed that youngsters should be given their first caps in friendlies against the likes of Spain (where even with the best will in the world England are likely to draw at best - even if you dont consider that friendlies rarely have the same edge to them as competitive matches) rather than more winable matches like last night with something at stake

Completely agree, whats there to learn as a youngster playing against Spain when you won't see the ball all game?
You can achieve the same thing by running laps.

England were unimpressive last night, I can't help but feel they'll be talked up and put on a pedestal by the media yet again and will end up hugely disappointed come the finals. There's no way that this England squad playing the way they do will have a chance against the top European sides.

To be honest the best thing I did this year was to decide not to bother watching England again. I caught flashes because it was on at work in the crew room but pretty much everyone I know no longer cares about internationals. It's to be expected when champions league football is a higher standard and players cannot be bothered to turn up for friendlies to gel the team. If they can't be bothered neither can I, it would seem how small these international threads are the days neither can most football fans on ocuk :D

The problem with Internationals is there's just too many pointless games against nations no one cares about, with all respects.
I mean, i bet even the residents of San Marino don't watch their team get battered 11-0 by Holland, the only people watching were the dutch!

I would much rather fewer games of higher quality then what we have now.
