Euro 2012 Qualifiers 2/3/6 September ** Spoilers**

To be honest, we all have seen what happens when England play any of the home nations, they all raise they game against us and play above their own level.

But I am happy with England and the 2 games we have played. Won them both, no goals conceded. Sure, it wasn't our best performance, but you can only beat what is put in front of you and we did that.

Milner and Barry are so utterly insipid they are a joke, Barry lacks pace, class, quality. There is a reason England look markedly when Young was introduced, and more so since Wilshire/Parker/Lampard became the midfield trio.

You need a proper DM in a team, any team, always have, always will. For years Lampard looked way below his Chelsea level with England, why, because he was playing DM for England for the best part of the last decade, with Gerrard playing AMC most of that time. It didn't/doesn't work, with Parker that actually had a real DM, with Wilshire they had someone capable of attacking or defensive role and in Lampard they have one of the best attacking central mids in the game.

With Barry/Lampard combo, Lampard always looks less attacking and less good, Barry has no business being anywhere near the squad, and you only have to look at Chelsea to see that when their DM's are working well and Lampard has a good attacking partner in midfield, he's just about their best player, when Mikel is crap and Ramires is his useless partner in midfield, Lampard plays very differently.

Young/Wilshire/Parker/Lampard/Downing is the best TEAM we can put out at the moment across midfield, rather than picking individuals as we have done ever since I can remember, and playing every big name, and shoehorning them all into different roles just to get them all to fit.

Why did England suck balls last night, lack of creativity in the midfield trio, Rooney not having a good night and Wales being significantly better opposition than the rubbish Bulgarians.

The problem with Internationals is there's just too many pointless games against nations no one cares about, with all respects.
I mean, i bet even the residents of San Marino don't watch their team get battered 11-0 by Holland, the only people watching were the dutch!

I would much rather fewer games of higher quality then what we have now.

I was thinking about this point earlier ......but now imagine you are Spanish and more usually than not winning the matches......would you feel the same or not?

I have to admit, I really dont know the answer from my own point of view - yes the likes of last night wouldnt now seem like a complete waste of a few hours, as I would have been watching much higher quality performances, but I also think its something internal/mental to the English setup / players which needs to improve too (which may well be helped by playing fewer internationals)

edit - I misse the first 15 minutes or so last night due to being late back from work, and I didnt even realise Lampard was playing until around the Young goal (about 20 minutes after I started watching), and he was pretty invisible for the rest of the match too (until he was subbed). I cant stand the ****** but Im hoping the performances improve when Stevie G is fit

Honestly? i think even the Spanish would rather more difficult games and having to play the likes of Germany, us (well, not all games can be difficult after all!), France etc.

Although the management must be happy with the current format, it allows plenty of time to let Spain B, C and D teams get a run out, still win, and not face media backlash.

My issue is that we will stutter and splutter our way to the big event, with commentators claiming we are just doing what's necessary to get there.

and this is true, but why would we be expecting the form or play to get any better when we do get there? Truth is that under capello we have played a lot of boring football and this doesn't look like changing.

you cant play awfully then expect it just to click for the big games. The team needs to be showing performances well before the tournament. i cant remember many if any really great english performances under capello .
