I just don't get how the pace of the cars can change so much from one weekend to the next - I have never known track temperature to play this much of a role.

No they're on a tyre saving strategy and will only push once the fuel load burns off.

A SC for them would be a nice bonus that opens a possibility of a win.

Seems to me McLaren would be happy to just get a podium such is their car setup handicap on this track.
