*** Eurovision 2021 ***

No point doing it when it's all political based. If the UK pull out it would take a lot of the funding with it, which might shake things up.

You say it’s political but I doubt the phone voters are there thinking “let’s stiff the U.K., their European policy is poor”, more “let’s stiff the U.K., those arrogant, exceptionalist ****holes”.

Maybe we should be addressing why Europeans hate us rather than blaming it solely on politics? We seemingly can’t even rely on the likes of Ireland chucking us a sympathy point or two which says a lot about how much we’ve isolated ourselves. We cry fix about neighbouring countries voting for each other yet I don’t see France, Netherlands, Belgium etc queuing up to vote for us. I wonder why…

Or we could try putting in a better song?

We always either put in joke acts like Gemini / Scooch, or safe walt disney pop balads, my opinion would be that Eurovision fans are bored of both. I think this years song was a combination of the two, a joke attempt at a standard pop balad.

It was a poor UK song, last years was better but he couldn't use the same song because... rules, I guess.

Not sure it was worthy of no points, one of the female artists (Moldova?) dropped the mic mid performance giving us all a nice "thud" sound in the middle of the song, even they didn't get nil points lol

Well quite it wasn't great but was it the worst? Seriously? The 2019 certainly didn't deserve it or the stage invasion/protest.

I doubt that the French are hated that much, disliked maybe, although I can’t see why.

I think Germany only got 2 votes. Back in the 70's it was basically just western europe since it was opened up to eastern europe its whole different ball game part of it I think is these other countries don't like voting for the western countries like france, germany etc the "big" countries its a kind of inverted snobbery.

I can only pity the people who are going to put themselves through the ritual annual humiliation of appearing in ESC and yet there will be someone who will be there next time eager to go through with it all over again.

Stage Invasion was 2018, but both that and 2019 were just basic safe pop balads.

If we keep putting in the same thing and keep coming bottom two, why not send try sending in a rap, rock or metal act for a change?

Need to put something in that isn't horrible but is a bit of a gimmick and is unique amongst the entrants of the year. Something like that sea shanty guy might have done well???

Whatever happened to Al Joelson, and Bridget the Midget (the Queen of the Blues)? Mebbe send Bridget Joelson

I don't think any British career singers want to do it. They have asked but they say no.

Our guy this year is primarily a song writer, not singer.
It is a bit of a poison chalice win it and you are guaranteed a big selling single finish second or below and you are rubbish (another British thing I guess!). I wouldn’t touch it if I was an even moderately successful British pop singer.

How come no one even remembers we came 3rd in 2002 with a girl from Pop Idol, who got dropped right after releasing the song?

That was literally the end of the era when we did ok, if you look at the results we were consistently strong for the 90’s into the early 00’s then we disappear and if you look at our entries with one or two exceptions it is obvious why!

How would you find anything that you don't even know it exists?

I still don't understand why anyone will kill a proven TV service that worked for decades, and replace it with much slower, heavier and much less convenient streaming service.

How would you find the newest Estonian songs, for example, in the internet?

Isn't it much more convenient just to turn your TV set on, choose the appropriate music TV channel and to get what you need automatically without any internet traffic and related costs?

But if its only a tv channel you will miss out on a lot of music because someone has to play gatekeeper.

i’m into rock/ metal so i follow journalists/ music websites on social media to keep up to date ect. I’m sure its the same for jazz, blues ect.

Youtube has all the music videos you need, why do you want a tv channel?

YouTube is a low-quality alternative. The vast majority of the old videos are with terrible sound and/or picture.
Videos are all the time deleted/removed by their publishers, you never know who has a right to post them, the rights owners not always choose to publish them, etc, etc.

If people use YouTube, is because they have no choice, and not because it's their first choice.

If there are normal music TVs, I would never ever go to YouTube for music.

Look, for how-to-do videos, yup.

The majority of the videos i watch are at least 720p. If youtube isn’t the first choice to find music videos i want to watch then what is?

No youtube is my first choice.

The videos on TV arent higher quality, the TV itself is usually a lower quality screen.

Up to the early 2000s, music videos were DVD quality 480p max. They didn't have the recording technology to go higher.

But about 5 or so years later Jade got 5th. Both Jade and Jessica sang ballads but had fantastic voices. Even the girl we sent in 2018 had a boring average voice, she just looked like Lady Gaga. When we sent in Bonnie Tyler she couldn't sing at all anymore, its already well known that she permanently damaged her voice from her career.

Ballads only work when sang with an outstanding voice otherwise they are boring. Most of the bad scores we got since the 2000s were joke acts as well picked by public vote, maybe why we no longer get a public vote and the BBC picks what to send each year.
