It's voted for by the public.

I reckon each year we are just voting for the song that will get us Nil points. We cant win so as we cant go out we may as well get zero each year. :p

The only time we had a decent song and band in the last 10 years we destroyed the competition. :o

When will they learn that you need half decent music for a chance of doing well.
No you don't, you just need to be a tiny insignificant American-hating country with no stance on the world stage and not much else going for you :p

Like I said above, the last time we had a decent song and band we destroyed the competition... 227 points from 24 countries.... :o

Of course, I'm a little biased. ;) :p

I think the Irish will feel a bit hard done by this year since they gave the British some votes and the British responded with jack all, lol. I think the British will regret that come next year. :p

Who was that?

And Georgia should have come better than it did, same with no 23 Armenia. Both were actually good songs!

As well as Apocoliptica? the ones singing during the vote count. :D

Edit: does anyone know where I canfind the actual list of who sang and in what order? I remember the numbers not the names of the countries. :o

Katrina and the Waves.... my dad was the bassist lol... They were reluctant to do Eurovision in the first place... they're most well known for "Walking on Sunshine" though. :)

Because they were absolutely crap and were just trying to get votes by putting some 'fresh bootay' up on stage. :D

Maybe that and their current standing politically etc? (Litvenko or whoever etc etc).

I didn't watch it, and would never watch it but I have seen this "scooch" band on the Music channels - utter rubbish.....but the two girls are hot! :D

I thought it might have something to do with politics, didn't think it would be expressed through eurovision. That aside I noticed all of russias neighbours were given them high points. Probably didn't want there gas supplies being turned off!

Why was everyone in the audiance booing russia?

Having spent quite a lot of time in Finland myself, I can tell you than a lot of Finnish people hate the Russians because of past conflicts and are still scared that Russia is going to do something again to them someday...and im guessing a lot of the audience were Finnish :p

At the finnish boarder? Is this to stop Finland invading and taking over Russia? I wouldn't have thought Finland would be up to the task. Or is it to stop the US invading via finland?

Given that the UK has given the world all of the greatest music ever and no country can even come close to the superiority of British music. Does anyone suspect that we are deliberately entering crap so that we don't have the expense of running the whole circus?

Any Europhiles that spout their tosh about EU integration and the harmony of the nations of Europe (despite the majority of the contestants aren't even in EUrope  ) should be made to watch the competition so that they finally realise that Johnny Foreigner hates us.

We could have entered The Rolling Stones, Coldplay, The Smiths or Deep Purple and Ireland could have entered U2 and we would have still lost. UK, Germany, France and Spain put up the majority of the money, I say let the former commies pick up the bill in future and we should refuse to take part.

Nothing reinforces my hatred of the continentals more than Eurovision. :D
