While we don't really have any load worth shifting I was all set to do my bit and use it as an opportunity to go gas free for a day and top off the hot water with the emersion heater... then realised Octopus haven't logged any data from our smart meter since Wednesday :rolleyes:

This got me thinking about EV charging... If this happens and you are on something like Intelligent Go does it simply not charge? Likewise if you are on a fixed duel rate tariff do you just end up paying at the higher rate?

To follow up on the Tesla Y offer I got the email today.

10k miles isn’t bad, just don’t go over that at 20p.

It might just not have uploaded yet. I have had a week where there was no data, then it all uploaded later.

No, as per above unless it is actually broken, the charger/car is the bit that does the smart bit, so it will still charge and you'll still get the lower price once the data syncs.

Had the same thing happen a few weeks ago. 7 day hole in my usage data, worked for a day, crapped out for a day then worked fine for a fortnight. Maybe they have it all behind the scenes and just haven't backdated the usage data on my account.

My real hope is that as I'm on Tracker they may just write those days off as they won't know how much I used at each daily rate :p

According to the status lights it's all doing its thing.

If you have missing days with tracker they spread your usage across based on an almost flat line.
I assume the data they receive is 1/2 hour usage and running total as when I had missing they still knew accurate meter readings just not the fine detail

So I’ve had my long range Model 3 Tesla 10 days now and coming from a 20 plate 330i it’s suprised me just how good it actually is. Having never drove electric or a Tesla prior to test driving and buying one it’s just incredible and the speed/efficiency is mind blowing. I did a 160mile trip yesterday and it cost me less than £2 it’s probably cost me close to £30 in the BMW and the Tesla just chewed the miles up.

Had a Zappi v2.1 installed 3 days ago and that’s made the home charging situation a breeze. Quality piece of kit.

Comparing to the BMW I’ve worked out I’ll be approx £2500 a year better off driving the Tesla.

Enjoy the car as it’s great.! Love mine and constantly looking for a reason to drive more. :)

Is it a new one? If so, how are you finding the lack of stalks? I'm in a Model Y which still has stalks, but a few things including the control layout are starting to annoy me; I think it'd be even worse with no stalks.

21 plate mate, wanted the parking sensors and stalks to be fair.

The 330i averaged 26mpg so was spending £35-£40 a week in fuel.

10k miles see above this costs me £4 tops a week, saves me £500 tax (as it was less than 5 years old) and also saves me maybe £300 on servicing a year.

Only outlay was the £800 charger for the Tesla. It cost me less than my BMW pay out (car was stolen) too. Another important factor for both me and my partner is we don’t have as much fear of being broken into again and this one being stolen.

Got offered £24k on the E43. Think I might defer the ID7 order - I just can't bring myself to it :cry:
 
What's the EV market like in the UK? Over here on the other side of the pond it has tanked completely.
Have probably lost at least £8k on my 4-year-old i3S in the space of 18 months and 14,000 miles.

I overpaid a smidge when I got it because I'm an idiot, but I really did not expect the bottom to fall out of the EV market like this. Could be worse (Hi Mercedes), but **** me.

luxury car tax next year .. and with this weeks reports on manufacturers prioritizing ev shipment and delaying other motorisations til next year to reduce zev fines => cost inflexion point.

I don't pay the tax anyway as its a lease; so priced in I guess. I only need to reduce next years salary so tempted to pause ideas till then and see how things pan out.

eSure just offered me insurance for £820 on the E43, too.

Forrester, 54, told the Daily Telegraph: “In some franchises there’s a restriction on supply of petrol cars and hybrid cars, which is actually where the demand is.

“It’s almost as if we can’t supply the cars that people want, but we’ve got plenty of the cars that maybe they don’t want. They [manufacturers] are trying to avoid the fines. So they’re constraining the ability for us to supply petrol cars in order to try and keep to the government targets.”

Vertu Motors, which trades as Bristol Street Motors, Vertu and Macklin Motors, said its profits for the first half of the year would be lower than expected but should recover to hit full-year forecasts. The City had been predicting pre-tax profits of about £42 million for the year to next February, up on last year’s near-£38 million
