Is this in and R&D seeing what the competition are up to basis or just that you have access to the vehicles and are curious?

Yes both really as well as a bit of a jolly, didn't manage to get the keys to the Range Rover Sport SV yet though for some V8 fun. Lent my mate my F type for the night though so its all good for product experience. Its only really driving a normal commute on familiar roads you pick up the subtle features, gimmicks and error states of various cars... I'm hoping to move into the field of Google/YouTube for god tier knowledge soon of course.

Yeah, Taycan gets under your skin the way many other EVs simply dont - incredible cars. Quite liked the 7 seater Defender 130 too. 2-2-3 seating so row2 is two good 'captains chairs'. BMW i7 with the large 32" rear screen is just bonkers.

My Leaf works out around 350mpg. It's stupidly cheap. I've no idea why everybody isn't driving an EV.
My house came with a charger so have the opportunity to, rational or not but the fear of going out for the day and having issues charging. Tesla charging network seems good and i would be tempted by the model 3 if it came with some buttons for simple stuff like door mirrors, glove box, air con and the likes.
I mostly just do short journeys so i'm likely one of those who really would benefit from it. Maybe if my partner drove a car that we could all fit in for the longer journeys then i'd get one, she drives a Citreon C1 so not likely to fit 4 or 5 people in.
You might want to take a look at the map of Tesla chargers that are open to non Tela's.
So you have two cars, but neither use case fits an EV, or you don't want one and your partner only wants a small car? I'm trying to understand the sentence, maybe I am just tired.
My partner has a diddy car that she uses for work, does home care so very much doesn't fit the use case as she's often out in the middle of no where. I have a large car which i got when we had 3 car seats in the back, now we mostly just have 2 kids in the back with just one booster seat. I drive mostly short journeys of maybe 10 miles once a day sometimes none in a day, although as mines large enough for the times we do go away down the other end of the country to chuck the suit cases in.

)They want a big EV with lots of range for long family drives but mostly does very short journeys. Well that’s how I read it.

It would likely make more sense but like i said likely an irrational fear of not being able to charge when i'm out for the day or go away. I was looking at nipping to liverpool for example, over 2 hour drive there, my fuel light was on as had forgotten to fill up on the way home the night before, few minutes in a shell garage i was set for the trip. Then when i looked at where to park : https://www.liverpool-one.com/parking/ look how little charging there is at the car parks.
I'll be hoping for a m340i in a decent spec for now but thought i'd answer the question of why i have not jumped yet at least
