EV general discussion

Doh, octopus EV charger install is not until 3rd march, earliest there is.
Luckily can charge at work a bit, but might have to rely on a bit of public for a while too.

Vertu had some nearly new/demo cars on cracking deals end of last month, seems there are a few still kicking about £27k-29k for a Cooper SE Sport [Level 3]

Yup, exactly that, will be looking at an ex demo, SE level 3, 1k miles on the clock. When I look at all the prices around, it’s a pretty decent offering. Just 10 mins from work too, so can pop out tomorrow afternoon. Should leave me with a decent bit of money left over and hopefully fewer upcoming bills. Plus I’ve sussed out most of the electric side of things now vs a few months ago when I knew little about them.

3 year PCP I guess, less than I’m paying now. As long as they don’t offer anything silly for mine. Then do I go for a 3 or 4 year deal?

Will be a drive of minis!

Thanks for all the replies.

I think the Ford Explorer Premium 77KWH Extended Range RWD is winning for comfort and toys. I didn't like the EV6 seating position, which is a pity because the looks and tech give it a clear edge. The Capri is just sillily big and Skoda's were just meh.

Getting old sucks.
I personally really dislike the new Ford EV design language

As a car I'm sure it's fine though lol

Check out the new Puma BEV - it's not based on the MEB platform like the Explorer and Capri. I think it looks great, especially the even larger 'Megabox' in the boot which I've used on previous Pumas to get loads in that had no right fitting in a car of that size. It's also a great drive and has the 'Ford DNA' when it comes to handling. Not as much as the Fiesta but still outclasses its rivals for me in that department. Unfortunately that aspect isn't advertised much, so it's worth a test drive.

Out of the Explorer and Capri, I think the Explorer is better value. They are extremely similar. Many of my colleagues have them and are very happy.

PS - Full disclosure - I work for Ford (the manufacturer).

Alec Issigonis would be a better reference…

I think the explorer looks great and MEB is good. Nice mixture, just hope the tyres last longer than the Mach-e!

Heh, bought it. Leaves me with a load of money left over. Unusually for me also added paint, tyre and wheel repairs. Not paint protection though. Collect Monday all being well.

Come on the what did they end up giving away with it? The deals were so good last month, also was it the SE Sport or SE Exclusive?
