EV general discussion

ID4, Ioniq 5, Niro EV, not sure if a bz4x or something falls into budget now. I-Pace if you want the excitement (of having your car in the garage more than on your driveway)

So have a appointment to test drive a 2023 Skoda Enyaq tomorrow. Its at an apporved Skoda dealer. Skoda atm have an offer of £1000 towards deposit if using there finance. I dont need Finance so anychance of them matching the £1000 off the cash price? Or they hold it due to them making more money from Finance?

Have never bought a car on finance and dont need to but just wondering do I have any power of Negotiation on price?

Depends on loads of things like how well they are doing against target this month, how much profit they have in the car, how well priced it is versus the market and how long they have had it.

Alternatively you take the finance and withdraw or settle after you've got the car and V5C.

Get it on finance then cancel within 14 days as is your rights I think is a possibility.

Yeah, the guy is deeply autistic and I hate his over promising, under delivering antics, but that was a 'show'..

Ultimately pointless, just 'fluff and filler' as it's not going to be remotely anything able to be put in to practice..

Imagine pulling up behind one of those at the traffic lights and it decides to do a full send 0-60.. your windscreen would be instantly blown through the car and bits of your head splattered all over the rear window..

Still, as a tech demo.. pretty awesome !

Hagerty has great coverage of it, it has more power than the Model S Plaid, is RWD.

They cloned the styling of the main car from Cyberpunk 2077 basically.

At least it looks way cooler than that thing Ferrari launched.

It's already been debunked as a light weight shell (think NASCAR) over a frame with some meaty air compressors inside.

Not taking a way from the fact that if we start here, anything is possible, but this isn't coming to a street near you anytime soon

4 - The sucking part is very cool though, that is going to help cornering on a racetrack....in the real world though, you are no faster than a VW Polo going in the streets of LA.
The problem is you need to run the car so stiff to keep the skirt skimming the floor that you just end up with an impressive technical showcase. McMurtry Spéirling is absolutely incredible in terms of it's performance but look at the way the thing gitters it's way over the track.

It can also do the upside down trick -

You could maybe make it with electronic suspension that softens it for the road but you'd never have a case for using that feature on the road and roads would destroy it in no time at all. Imagine speed humps, potholes or just a uneven surface, so pretty much every road. That skirt would be ruined in a few miles.

The base version that's road legal has the fans too..

How is that going to work? The skirt has to be in contact with the road surface to form a vacuum. Public roads are in terrible condition, so poor contact, sudden loss of vacuum and so loss of grip resulting in loss of control. The poor roads will destroy the skirt. You'll also be clearing out the filters daily and what about all the grit being blown out of the rear of the car on other road users?

Sorry I just don't see it happening. Its not like Elon doesn't have a history of promising things that never happen. Where are those 1 million driverless taxis he said would be on the road in 2020?

By whom ? I've seen a few haters online say this, but they don't know anything.

Well clearly you're not going to be using the suction feature on normal roads, only racetracks. I have read they do have some new unique patents to stop debris getting sucked in though.

Take their finance, get discount, repay finance within cooling off period, profit

The fact there were 3 different cars is shown in photographs. You honeslty think the car with the cold gas thrusters that performed the stunts was a full weight car?

So a skirt that can be retracted up into the body, where the battery is? Suspension that raises the skirt clear of anything that could damage it, then lowers the car so it makes contact with the road surface on track? That is a hell of a lot of weight to carry around for a feature that is used how often? How many people actually track their cars?

The idea that any country is going to allow a car with cold gas thrusters on its roads are laughable

The fan will only be allowed on a track only version and many circuits likely won't be happy with it.

More Elon vapourware and as per normal it gets lapped up :cry:

air is now called cold gas yeah?
