EV general discussion

I don't think I would tbh. I assumed there was at least a hud with speed displayed.
I'm old enough to remember the original minis with the speedo in the centre of the car, no dashboard back then, it becomes natural to look at the middle instead of in front.

I’m not convinced your length of ownership and miles driven constitutes as trying to get used to it. To each their own.
3 weeks and 2000 miles should have been enough. As I’ve said before, if this was my only car then I think I would have had no issues. it’s because I swap back and forth depending on whether wifey or I need the Tesla that causes the issue for me.

I placed an order for the complete S3xy setup today, curiosity got the better of me! Ill take the car to get the annoying front camera sorted out first as this is one mod im sure they would have something to say about if you are having electrical gremlins.

Every one will be a bit different but personally I find the traditional dials optimal and I'd really hate not having basic information like speed in front of me just a quick glance downwards.

It is funny how you (or at least I) get used to referencing against certain things as well - I don't drive manual much any more and the other day having to hop into a manual Ford Transit which was configured to show revs as a "power bar" instead of traditional dial was a bit of a nightmare - that and being a van used by a lot of different people the gearbox was pretty trashed which didn't help.

I find I must subconsciously reference against the motion of the speedo when bringing my speed down into a new speed limit - I kind of pride myself on tapering it off precisely into the new speed limit without using brakes - as changing a couple of my cars to a digital dash for awhile with number readout instead of the dials on the display threw my judgement out considerably.

I tried using a HUD on my Navara for awhile and just didn't get on with it - though that was partly due to it not regulating the brightness for different conditions very well.

Granted our test drive was very brief in the model 3, and for the purposes of the drive the only thing we needed to see was our speed and it was fine, we got used to it very quickly.

Being an EV there's no tacho, no engine temp, no gear indicator, all we really need to see (from our very limited exposure so far) was the speed and battery state and those data points are both very obvious.

I do like that little screen though, might get one myself.

Test drives are always a bit of a sensory overload for new cars let’s be honest.

Need to drive for a few weeks in night and dark, urban and highway to have a credible view IMO.

Exactly, I'm sure there will be time when I'll be cursing the thing. You'll know because I'll probably be whining like a little bitch on here.
