That Cupra Born your looking at is a nice car but it's a load of money to spend on a (150kw) 4 wheeled bike!
Get a Damon Hypersport instead, it's got the same power and costs half the price. :p

No doubt the government is terrified of how many people are going to be switching to electric due to the raise in petrol / diesel costs. Obviously the government isn't going to lose the 30 billion pounds (or whatever it is) revenue from fuel overnight, but on a balance sheet the government will be losing money both ways in this - less fuel duty revenue and giving grants to people to do it as well.

Especially since they haven't figured out yet how to recoup all that money lost in fuel duty and rumoured plans for GPS Tracking new cars and charging you directly per mile haven't gone down well.

The grant was practically worthless since March 2021 anyway as only cars costing less £32k qualified for the £1.5k off list. So only a few small, short range cars were in the bracket.
Before then it was £3k off cars up to £50k.

Lost grant should be compensated by the % mandates for electric vehicle sales, manufacturers will have to sign up for, so they will need to make them affordable. (those sunlit uplands)

Apparently, fleet folks would now like some comfort from the chancellor that the preferential bik rates will continue further than the next 3 years, since they may have to hedge that in new lease deals.

Well, we've finally got chargers in the village, at least they're being installed atm. 4 dual chargers with Pulse branding on them.

Could be feasible for me now.

35p/kWh was unsustainable with current energy prices, so yes totally predictable. But it got a lot of buzz going about the app, which I guess was the main goal all along.

Nope, terraced house straight onto the pavement. I do have a ginnel I could put a charger in.

It's not a super busy road though, I think with a 10m cable I'd be reasonably sure of getting it parked where I could charge it.

Still, electric car prices aren't really enticing me at the moment. I'm debt free and work from home so the economics don't make sense just now.

Indeed, a nice way to blow all your investors money. I guess time will tell if it was worth it in the long run.

Who’s going to carry on using it post price hike?

Personally I’d only use it if the price via the app was materially cheaper than just using the contactless reader on the machine. It’s still a good discount on Ionity.

I’m sure their exit strategy must be to sell the app to someone else in the long term. Hopefully it’s not BP for them to ruin something else!
 
How many of those heavy users needing the big bundles will be private users who use the app though? Won't most people doing those miles have a corporate deal going with an RFID card already? Have to admit not an area I know a lot about.
 
I imagine there a loads of people with fairly hefty subscriptions because they roll over and don’t actually use it all every month. I imagine some will start cashing in that credit soon though.
