Cynic… they probably have a huge hole to fund from the rises depleting any cash they did have.
 
That may well be the excuse, I think it’s fair to say many passed it on very quickly. Gridserve isn’t to bad and I think bonnet is still 50p for anything on its network. Tesla is around 65p now across its chargers.

I also wonder what their supply contracts actually are, many businesses are on fixed contracts over long periods of time. I know it makes sense to price creep over a longer period to make sure you don’t have a price shock but that’s the other cynical argument.

I don’t expect Ionity will go down as it never went up!
 
Gridserve is stabilised by its generation part of the energy system and able to buy off peak. They operated at the taps of the elecrical bath tub rather than just the drain so the high prices work both ways for them.
 
To add about the ID3, I've owned one for a year now, and will be trading it in for an ID5 in the next few days.. I'm getting 8k more than i paid for it making it a no brainer really. Also have a 3rd child on the way. Our other car is a model 3 performance.

Its the basic 58KWh life pro performance model. I agree about the interior, its not great, but the car is very well put together in all other aspects. The doors feel heavy and being a 'weighty' car it just feels more solid than the M3P, which was/is more than double the price. Given its price in the EV segment overall (i got it for 26K approx), it made it a no brainier over a similar priced leaf. It also has pretty decent efficiency and has enough poke when you put your foot down. So all in all its a great EV. The Born was not available at the time, otherwise i would have got this instead.

I'm getting a pretty good deal on the ID5 and they are giving me silly money for the ID3, plus its a 77kwh battery. Ive have already seen a few and the interior is better. It makes a nice change from the million teslas on the road. Speaking of which the M3P may have to be changed for a MYP / LR.

I saw an ID5 in the dealership today and thought it looked pretty decent. :) Interior looked very similar to the ID3 though, just a touch larger.
 
Presumably there's more going on with the different power trims as 483bhp/620lbft to 510bhp/671lbft barely seems worth bothering with different specifications? :p

The entry LR version already comes fully loaded - air suspension, B&W stereo, soft close doors, full glass roof, Brembo brakes

I think the Perf upgrade adds 22" wheels, bigger brakes, quilted vented leather and coloured belts :p (in addition to the power & torque upgrade)

The Polestar 4, another SUV, is due in 2024 to slot in between the P2 and P3 price brackets.
The P3 is aimed at the Porsche Cayenne segment, the P4 against the smaller Porsche Macan.

Just A.N.Other high-end SUV, at high-end SUV pricing. £80k is obviously sat right in the Audi/BMW/Mercedes crowd EV or not. Back-end from the side looks like a CHR though.
 
Do we think polestar has the brand recognition to charge Porsche money? I’m not so sure.

That said, if it’s a success for polestar, I’d expect the Porsche equivalent to add another £10k anyway.

The biggest issue I see with then competing for Porsche money/buyers is also selling cars like the polestar 2. While it’s a good car, it’s my view that the Porsche brand does have a ‘regular people can’t afford this’ thing about it and plenty of Porsche buyers like that.

It's not Porsche money though - The equivalent Cayenne GTS Coupe (ICE) starts at £93k, plus about £20k of options to get up to a basic spec- e.g. heated seats (!!) and air suspension.
Also, with the much lower tax on EV's, it's another level cheaper for company schemes.

A few posts above are talking like it’s going after Porsche money when really it’s just slotting into the usual Audi/Volvo/Merc/BMW slots.

It's possible to aim at Porsche buyers without charging exactly the same cost, e.g. it's in the same segment - Large Sport SUV, which Audi, Merc and BMW also occupy. Pretty sure a Porsche EV SUV like this would be above £100k, plus options (excluding the slow underpowered version :p)

The standard BMW iX M-Sport Edition (£80k) is pretty close to the Polestar 3, but the battery size/range is much lower.

The Larger wheels take about 50 miles from the range so I won't be spec'ing those
