EV general discussion

p11D does matter for VED now and obviously BIK.

Not sure there are many discounts around anymore anyway. Beyond finance deals etc. any idea of what zenith get % wise ?

volume discounts cant be offered when the RRP is lowered though...

I just dont know how that brain of yours actually works.
if the rrp reflects the real ev value with an appropriate profit margin then private buyer wouldn't need to try and haggle, and
on the other hand, seems grossly unfair (monopoly investigation into fleet buyers ?) if the fleet buyer, gets a fantastic deal, also, effectively subsidised by private purchasers
rrp inflation, is also probably incurring the luxury car tax, more significant to the private buyer who doesn't have the bik bonus.

[fleet buyer to mftr - if you want us to sell your ev's and meet the zev credits this is the deal/price otherwise we won't list your cars]

e: looks like monopolies have looked into fleet/private issue before - not sure if it was imposed & continues ?

The Supply of New Cars Order 2000

Non-discrimination between fleet customers and dealers

2.—(1) It shall be unlawful for a supplier to discriminate unjustifiably between fleet customers and dealers who purchase new cars outright in respect of discounts given for the supply of the same or similar number of new cars supplied over the same or similar period of time.

(2) In determining whether discrimination is justifiable in any particular case regard shall be had as to whether the value of the terms and conditions agreed with a dealer is broadly similar to the value of fleet supply agreements recently entered into by that supplier, taking into account the nature of the dealer agreement and fleet supply agreements in question and any additional benefits given or agreed which are financed by the supplier.
e2: obviously selling more because of bik, which should invalidate constraint.

Personally think Nissan should just bin off the Leaf and Qashqai and stop pretending the Ariya can compete with the established luxury segment and just have the Ariya with Acenta trim level to replace the Leaf and Tekna trim level to replace the Qashqai and an Ariya "R-Line" with the premium stuff with pure EV and a couple of petrol engine options (KR15DDT would be good if they can fix the fuel economy and reliability issues) - though there are probably some challenges with having different engine types in the same design.
'Just bin off' the third best selling car in the UK last year?!

Not without a direct replacement and not necessarily without keeping the name, but tidying things up development and production wise behind the scenes - it might be the 3rd best selling car but Nissan are in serious trouble and their approaches are a big factor there.

When has the micra even not looked disappointing!

K14 was a decent effort just needed a little better engines but they priced themselves out of the Micra market hence it being discontinued. The older K11/12 was well regarded for price, reliability and practicality in its segment.

My 1992 K reg was a beast thank you.

lol. I had a 1988 F reg, with a twin headlight conversion and crappy side skirts, now that was a beast. Boot was filled with some Kenny 6x9’s and a pioneer sticker across the back window. Not my proudest moment on the car front. I think they peaked with the bubble micra, and it’s been downhill since, with looks and reliability.

and reliability

Unfortunately in recent years Nissan has picked up some of the Renault problems which it comes to reliability :( it is kind of annoying as in a lot of cases just a little more effort would have made all the difference - but then added to the cost which they've been struggling with.

Well luckily non of those issues seem to have crept in to their recent EV offerings so totally irrelevant really.

I might be wrong but their EV offerings so far have been more removed from Renault AFAIK but that will be less a case with some offerings going forward by the looks of it.
