If that was the reason they never would have made it except. That was not the reason.Because there weren't many, and now there are?
ICE uses the same amount of screenwash as EVs.
That doesn't look good, I was only wanting one to use in an emergency like at the caravan so I don't have to use public chargers but I'm guessing our static caravan doesn't have the higher rated plug sockets
From 2028 (2 1/2 years away...)Sorry if its been mentioned but how does the per mile tax affect company car drivers ? . It's going to add up for my wife's company she racks up anywhere between 2.5k to 3.5k per month.
apparently people with EVs on average do more miles than any other fuel. From 2028 (2 1/2 years away...)
IF she drives an electric vehicle, she will have to pay £1080 a year extra.
I'm amazed anyone driving a BEV does 36,000 miles a year though.
EV running costs : 2p per mileso wheres the EV incentive?
My screen wash is always bloody frozen and no engine to defrost it. Having to use it neat which costs a lot more. Lol
Turn it down to 8A and it should be fine unless the socket is completely ******.That doesn't look good, I was only wanting one to use in an emergency like at the caravan so I don't have to use public chargers but I'm guessing our static caravan doesn't have the higher rated plug sockets
A decent EVSE should have a thermocouple in the plug and turn down the charge rate. The Masterplug one claims to have thermal monitoring (even has a temperature display on the screen) but doesn't monitor the critical part, the plug. So I would highly suggest avoiding that particular model. That doesn't look good, I was only wanting one to use in an emergency like at the caravan so I don't have to use public chargers but I'm guessing our static caravan doesn't have the higher rated plug sockets

This one, for example, has a thermocouple in the plug so there is no need to compromise - https://ecoharmony.co.uk/products/5...9C-W8YC70zRidIl-R5705RzL-GmAlZi8FPvznUiltApHL
As for caravan use, no idea I'm afraid. I'd be cautious though.
Don't let my images put you off anything other than an EVSE without a thermocouple in the 3-Pin plug though. I stupidly didn't research it thoroughly enough and assumed that thermal monitoring meant the bit that mattered.
It's a brand new static caravan (we've only had it a month) so don't want to go swapping sockets etc. so I think may have to force the wife to buy a decent cable as it's her carThe issue is mainly down to the socket, which is straightforward enough to replace with an EV rated one. I swapped out a double socket in my garage for one of these. All the sockets in there are surface mounted, so it was easy to just replace the 2 gang pattress box for a single. If thats not a option then adapter plates are available to allow a single gang socket to fit a double back box.
Doubt it'll impact them at all. Come 2028 with the increase in fuel duty 3p will seem cheap per mile.Anyone care to guess where residuals for EV'S will be over the next few years other than fully round the U bend ? She's going to have to tax petrol/ diesel cars into stratospheric numbers for people change now - I'm sure it's coming ¡
What increase in fuel duty ?Doubt it'll impact them at all. Come 2028 with the increase in fuel duty 3p will seem cheap per mile.
12k miles PA £360... Which will buy you 2.7k miles at 45mpg in an ICE at £6 a gallon. Add in the charging costs £480-600.

The 5p cut is from 2022 is only frozen until Sept 2026, then it'll start increasingWhat increase in fuel duty ?
Fuel duty: 2026-27 main rates – The government will extend the temporary 5p fuel duty cut for a further five months, with the cut being reversed in three stages: 1p on 1 September 2026, 2p on 1 December 2026 and 2p on 1 March 2027. This will return rates to pre-March 2022 levels. The planned inflation increase for 2026-27 will not take place, with the government uprating fuel duty rates by Retail Prices Index (RPI) from April 2027.
