So I did get over to BMW Chelmsford today, but they were doing staff training in the vehicles and there were QR codes plastered all over them. I did get a few pictures but none are particularly good.
Nice to be able to actually sit in one and get some impressions of the practicality at least. It was unlocked, but not 'on' as such, so the screen functionality was only basic - Looks great in person though and the white leather seats were very comfortable. Even that horrible steering wheel wasn't that bad in person as it doesn't cover up an instrument cluster in the first place (still happy I went for the M Sport wheel though)
Car had done 1532 miles, it was °4 outside and at 90% state of charge is showed 331 miles of range remaining. If you were to do the calculations that means 100% would be 368 miles, which does seem on the low side when WLTP is 500 miles, but I will say this particular vehicle had the 22" wheels. I'm going to guess it changes the estimated range based on driving style and I don't know if they are being driven around to dealers or driven on and off trailers and doing little journeys in and out of dealerships, but it's pretty farkin cold and my GV70 has never seen anywhere near 350 miles of range even in summer. I'm hoping for 400 miles in the depths of winter.
I really liked the look of it and the inside of the car. The only negative thing I could say about it is the panoramic sunroof. It's lovely and big, but on a very overcast grey day it wasn't really letting much additional light in to the cabin.
I do think a sunnier day might lighten it slightly - But other than being fun for passengers it might not exactly be essential - It's the one thing I'm not sure I would option but again, it might look wonderful in mid July. At least you know you aren't going to get sunburnt or come back to a car that's super hot!
