EV general discussion

Interested to hear your thoughts etc on your Pulse, still un sure on the pulse/summit or the premium. I like the vented seats, matrix lights etc on the premium but I also like having AWD, the near 580hp does sound a bit mad for a standard SUV though lol.
So after having the car for a little while I thought I'd feedback on how it is going. To sum up, I love it. It is really really good.

I love the comfort. I love the fit and finish (no squeaks and no rattles) and the materials feel nice, its also roomy and bright inside and so quiet. Went up the coast today so managed to get some Spotify on the go and turned up the volume and the speakers are powerful. I like the surround mode. The car drives lovely (even in Eco), steering is responsive, and absorbs the bumps well (not crashy at all). Brakes are responsive and not spongy. Still has the annoying "bing bongs" for speed. 1MPH over and it starts going mad. Annoying that it resets like most new cars and doesn't remain off permanently. Charged it up a little last night as well to test that out, and had no dramas with the dynamic / intelligent charging schedule, unlike the Honda mentioned earlier. Starting to get used to where things are now as well which is half the battle. Also briefly tried Sports mode today. Haha now I remember why I went with this model. It is rapid.

What other silly things do I like... erm, oh the puddle lights. Didn't realise it had them. When you approach the car and the lights come on, that is nice touch. I like the quirky indicator sound and the car/door lock sound. They are fun. The fact the rear seats have adjustment controls is great, and the fact the rear passenger can alter the front passenger seat (if unoccupied) is very useful. Both door mirrors also dip when reversing is useful. If driving under a certain speed and indicating (i.e. cornering) the camera shows either a top down or side cam on the screen (useful for judging curbs). There's probably more but I can't remember. :p

Sounds good, what version of sw is it on? I heard v2.2.0 has been released and that makes turning off the bongs easier (some how). Have you got any pics inside/out as I've not seen anything of the pulse.

Ohh it just did a SW update today. :) I scheduled it for 2AM. A pleasant man spoke to me through the speakers and said it had downloaded and was scheduled for 2AM. I was like "thanks very much mate". I posted some pics here:
:)

Oooh release notes for car updates. That's nice to see!

Active Speed Limit Warning in Drive Setup

Active Speed Limit Warning can now be set in Drive Setup, letting you choose visual alerts, audio and visual, or turn the function off.

That's better. No diving into Car Settings > Driver Assistance (or whatever it is) and then choosing the sub-menu and scrolling down!! I think Drive Setup can be instantly accessed via the touch button on the far right of the display. I'll check it tomorrow!

Finally got round to organising an EV charger for my house.

Even though we don't have an EV yet, we'll get one soon and I think it is almost becoming expected / desirable for house buyers.

Got what I would call a great deal for a Hypervolt Home 3 Pro, with £500 of OLEV grant for businesses installing EV infrastructure bringing the net cost to £510, some of which I will offset against corporation tax in my Ltd company.

Now I just need to persuade someone to finance an EV for my fairly new company.

Isn't "a business installing EV infrastructure" a bit of a stretch for sticking a charger on your own house?

No, the short answer is putting EV chargers on personal properties is a legit business expense.

As always in accounts there's lots of caveats, but if its a business car its 100% claimable. If its for a personal car used for business then there's BIK to take into account.

Seems used BEV prices are going up faster than I've seen in the past, quite a lot of the auto trader ads using the price tracking addon shows the sellers increasing them over the last 7-10 days, where as they seemed to be going down prior to this.

Funny feeling they are using the current middle east situation to their advantage, would be interesting to know if enquires have increased much as well.

Used ev price stabilization/tutraround started before current ME issue , but haven't seen a good explanation
increased demand because smaller ev's meeting peoples needs now available, with bette ranges ? - maybe the government adverts are cutting through.

( so if you install a buisness charger at home can other members of you family use it or they have to be on the board.)

Crude oil has gone up over 50%, this hasn't been reflected much at the pump yet but can imagine the prospect of big hikes in petrol/diesel being enough to sway people.

Similar to when the last fuel shortages happened, EV's had a bump in popularity.

I have no idea how much we should expect to see prices rise by. Obviously crude is the raw material but it is a refined product so there is the manufacturing process, distribution, profit margin, taxation.... etc. all to take into account. What that equates to as a percentage increase all things considered I'd have thought to be lower than 50% but I haven't a clue by how much.

Well 52p in oil cost in a 140p litre. Fuel duty and VAT is 53% the price of a litre

spent £84 including a handful of supercharging stops.
the equivalent in my 440i would've cost £760 :o

I've just ticked over the 10k mile mark and my wife is around the 5k mark, since late July. Total price of home charging a touch over £400 and we've public charged 3 times at a cost of zero thanks to car360 referrals.

Old fuel bill was over £200 a month and that's before my wife's new job and much longer commute.

Noticed this with a couple of the BYD Seals I have been keeping an eye on (more to keep up to speed with general pricing as not in a position to change / buy just yet).

Other options like the Model 3 LR and Polestar 2 DM (Facelift / whatever they call it) are relatively static but lots of options and variation across age and mileage so harder to judge exact pricing movements.

Will say I did get slightly tempted by an Ioniq 5/6 N on lease as they seem to be very competitive atm but again the timing isn't right atm. Might be one for the future.
