EV general discussion

Twingo go coming soon, looks good. :)

It looks ok and I’d much prefer this to any of the Chinese stuff, but the all new claim is stretching it when the front suspension is taken from the Renault 5 and the rear from a Renault Captur, which is ancient.

Anyone had any luck getting Electrical certs, DNO, etc from Pod Point after their home charger installation? I never received any paper work on the day back in september and now need all this stuff as we're moving home

Renault are really knocking it out of the park design wise, the twingo looks fantastic.

Agreed, their cars actually have a bit of personality which goes a long, long way in the world full of boring Teslas and Chinese stuff.

It's totes adorbs as my wife would say.

My charger keeps shutting off due to the voltage being too high and the DNO have told me up to 12 months waiting list to have a voltage monitor fitted before they can investigate which is annoying.

I'm able to charge at night fine it seems as the voltage spikes seem to be through the day when the sun is out (excess solar power?)

Not massively affecting me but it was annoying last weekend when I wanted to add some extra charge before we went away for the weekend and couldn't :o

That’s not good enough, complain to the regulator.

High voltage is a dangerous fault condition that will damage equipment and the DNO is required to deal with it.

But yes, it is due to renewables and they need to tap down the local transformer once the fault is verified.

Is intelligent Octopus go still the best ev tariff? My BG electric driver v15 tariff is due for renewal next month and my charger is now approved for intelligent Octopus.

Also depends on if you have solar or not and need a good export tariff.

Octopus, Eon and EDF all have competitive options as do some of the smaller suppliers.

Decent deal on the Tesla Model 3 (non-premium) Rear-Wheel drive - 1+23 with 8k miles PA for £295 per month, £295 first payment. So just over £7k for 2 years.

Yeah I saw that on PH earlier. A very good deal IMO as it seems the M3 is a big step up from the old one

Nothing similar to touch this on price be that lease or PCP even from the 100% Chinese manufacturers right now, also being the lower specified car lower insurance rating. You temped to cut your losses and hand back your car?

Just can’t at the moment.

I’ve got my finger on the trigger for a Capri, but waiting for house contract exchanges before that can happen - don’t want to risk losing my mortgage rate.

A Tesla doesn’t work for me for a variety of reasons, but it is a great deal if it works for someone else

My ID 7 deal was mega cheap at 360 a month with 3 months down and 12,000 miles, can’t get anything near that at the moment for equivalent spec

I finally got my new Model 3 RWD in Stealth Grey recently and I have to say, for the money it's such a good car - especially at these new updated prices. I considered most EV's but I just felt Tesla had the best overall package, and as a company they've been very good to deal with.

The build quality seems fine as per most of the Highland cars, and the handling is great and reminds me of a 3 Series. The more basic suspension is still well judged and despite the stereo being downgraded, it still sounds acceptable.

I've been comfortably getting around 200 wh/mi (5 miles per KW) which is excellent efficiency. That means a realistic 300~ mile range or thereabouts.

Good timing too with the price of fuel going pear shaped!
