EV general discussion

Due to all this chatter regarding a 'frunk' I decided to check the iX1 and it has what can only describe as a full bay, looks the same as an engine (similar to M135) with all the covers etc. in there as I was thinking it would be a good place to store the cable, colour me disappointed

You have a Frox™ That’s a front glove box BTW and yes, I have trademarked the term. Inspection fees apply and no tea will be provided.

Something something ‘your mum’ something ‘front box’…

I was going to ask is there a rear glove box ....

I’m going to need gloves for that one if I’m honest…

Unless they are cavernous you can open the frunk from the outside, they aren't very useful.

I just keep my charging cable in there.

Don't even bother keeping the Granny charger in the car, never used it in 5 years of EV ownership.

I'm not that bothered about opening it from the inside or from my phone/watch.

We just store our dog walking shoes, balls and a few other small bits in for when we go to the beach etc that I don't necessarily want knocking around in the boot. Sometimes I'll even put a little bit of shopping in there.

Definitely something I'd rather have than not have.

I was afraid to Google it (gloveboxes) tbh.

If you want a car with a frunk maybe buy one with a frunk. They don't all have them. Not all cars have boot or a trunk either. Some ICE have a frunk it's common in sports cars, 911, booster, MR2/S etc.

Toyota MRS only had storage behind the seats. Is that a munk...

true : muddy walking boots in a lined frunk would be useful

letterebox = exhaust pipe ?
( sales-people yes the the Seal u-dmi is fully electric ...me ok true I can't see an exhaust ... hang on (prone looking under car) there is one
these still look like they'd be massively underpowered when the phev battery was drained

You seem to spend a lot of time at/talking to byd dealers

We've never used the granny cable, I stuck in the garage. No frunk on our Hyundai Kona. In the boot I removed the big piece of polystyrene housing the granny cable below the boot tray, sprayed expanding foam into a black bag and placed it in the empty spare wheel well with the tyre inflation kit and wheel brace set into to the foam.

The boot tray can now go in some slots that are about 10cm lower, giving us a good 50ltrs more boot space

I like this idea, the only thing that annoys me on ours is the relatively small boot
