EV general discussion

On a long run 250Wh per mile is relativity easily achieved with 20" wheels, and in temps above 10c, so 360 miles on 100% charge, bottom buffer isn't huge but power loss isn't that bad at close to 0% and the charging speed is still good if you need to rapid charge averages 150kW from 3-60% and tapers off hitting 100kW at 73%, about 25 mins to do 5% to 75%, with the obvious fact that 5% is 18 miles gives you a bit more wiggle room for chargers failing etc.

Distance to Prestwick is about 350 miles, plus a 20 mile ish detour for my mum to make me a cup of tea, so I’ll need to do a charge at some point toward the end of my @Journey :D

Given it only has just under 5000 miles on it currently I was considering the train or flying to save the mileage but it should make for a nice round trip and a good test if I do it!

Loads of chargers on the M6 so you'll be fine!

Just driven from Telford to Ayr Scotland sat at around 65mph in Eco mode and managed to get 3.8 mkwh and managed 255 miles before charging. Not bad considering KIA say 3 max and 206 mile range.

Also had my first charge since having EV’s at 240kw car fans were going nuts but it charged stupidly quick. Probably as it was 32c outside.

Once I found the actual connected drive store, I installed it
I'd take a look at the spotify app and see what bitrate it is delivering; normal/high/lossless ?
when I looked at BMW apps, the native app, using their sim, wasn't delivering same quality as a wired/wireless spotify via car play
1 currently use lossless spotify via car play - but that's getting on to to 1gB an hour so I'd need a bigger data subscription if I travelled more

I'm probably one of the few who loves the look of the Hyundai Ioniq 9 :D

I have had mine on order since November, and its due any week now, this is through Salary Sacrifice at work.

Currently have a LR Tesla Model Y, which has been fine, the suspension is a bit harsh (March 2023 car) The only really decent thing with the car is the sound system, it's spot on! Thats going back to the lease company with 50k miles on it, so its covered a fair bit in the last 3 years.

Ioniq 9 wise, I've gone for the Calligraphy 6 seater with captains chairs in Celadon Grey metallic, the car gets parked under trees in my garden, and the matte paint would be trashed within minutes!

Happy to post pics and thoughts once I actually get it if anyone is interested.

I could have had the new Model Y, however my german shepherd is no longer a pup and is quite cramped when in the boot :D

I did take a look at the new BMW iX3 love the look of the new platform, but wanted a larger boot. Would have loved a Range Rover, but the BIK on them is ridiculous due to no pure EV variants as of yet, so I've opted for the poor mans RR :D a Hyundai :D Ok it's a lease through work, but never thought I'd see the day a Hyundai cost near enough 80k

Have to say from the back I really don't fancy it :D

Why the I9 over the EV9 out of interest?
I prefer the looks of the I9 to be honest.
The EV9 looks similar to a Defender if you squint, which I do like.
But the I9 just ticked the boxes for me, as mentioned I love the look of it, also the interior just felt better. I'm not a fan of the capacitive buttons across the dash in the EV9, don't get me wrong the Calligraphy slab thing on the dash in the I9 is terrible also the dark silver trim piece isn't great, but overall it ticks the boxes for us.
We've never had a Hyundai car before, had many KIA's from the 2011 Sportage when the new shape came out to the 2019 Sorrento, they are great products.

Personally implementation of controls like that that would just put me straight off a car no matter how good the rest was.
I know right, also from memory its also on a cloth part of the dash, anyone with kids know these will get messy quickly, considering the size of the car and that it's aimed at families.
