What's the best car history checker that people use nowadays? I have checked the MOT history and looks fine, is it still HPI checker? Or is there a more modern service nowadays?

Total car check is what I’ve used the past few years when looking at cars

Seems good value and does everything which car vertical does I think

Edit: probably have a free code left over if you want it?

I think you knew what I was alluding to.
Not really, some of the biggest brands in the world use YouTube to sponsor videos, also newer brands grow then advertise more, and grow and advertise more, rinse and repeat. They are expensive I'll agree with that, use Vcheck if you prefer.

I just don’t know if my expectations are misplaced at this stage.
few reedeeming features from driving the car then, versus experience during test drive ?
even if rejection is probably best managed coldly by immediately saying come and collect the car it's outside the house.

Well, already having issues with the Hyundai.

Tried to clean the windscreen and nothing came out. Assumed the washer fluid tank was empty, but I went to put some in today and it was full. Just doesn’t work.

Sounds like the pump is working but potentially clogged, but given I’m having issues this early on, and given my history with VW my tolerance for problems on a brand new car is 0 - I will be rejecting the car.

Might seem like it’s a bit extreme - and it is, but I am absolutely 100% not getting myself into a 3 year lease on a car which is having issues from day one.
IMO rejecting a car straight off for what will probably end up being be a blocked non return valve or something equally trivial is definitely extreme IMO.

I get the expectation for 100% perfection on a new car but that isn't the reality for many brand new cars. It is a mass produced product, according to Google one rolls off the production line every 53 to 60 seconds and it is made up of tens of thousands of components. Things can and do slip through QC.

TBH you would have come across as more reasonable rejecting it for that paint job! When you do go back to the dealer though just be aware that they will be under the assumption that you've changed your mind on the vehicle as no one rejects straight off the bat for the windscreen washers not working.

I’m rejecting it as a sum of the issues I’ve had, including paintwork where they want me to go back to Southampton to have it rectified.

They’ve had 5 chances to provide me with a working car, and I don’t think it’s unreasonable to expect a cars washer fluid system to be working when I collect it. It evidences to me that an insufficient PDI has been carried out.

I don’t think it’s fair for them to expect me to take time out of my day again to resolve another one of their problems.

I’m already down ~£500 for taking a wasted day off work and compensating for last minute insurance changes - I feel like I’ve been lenient enough with them, and this is my cut off point.

If it was the first issue I’d had, I would 100% be taking it back to be repaired

Ah, out of ideas then
So I've been monitoring it all yesterday evening and this morning and not once has the charger dropped offline. Smart Home Charge actually rang me this morning to check, good service from them, and said that Hypervolt, who has also just emailed me, have been monitoring the charger and also confirm it has stayed online
Fingers crossed this remains so but thanks for all your suggestions, always much appreciated.

Fair enough, death by a thousand cuts as they say.

All I can say is better luck with the next one!

As for Swirly McSwirl, coming to a Hyundai Approved Used stock list soon!
