Those of you with hybrids and hardly ever use the petrol engine, don't forget that fuel goes stale after a while.
Yet to encounter these burdens personally, just the benefit of a significant amount of additional flexibility and getting an extremely favourable mileage payment despite managing most of the related mileage on electric![]()

I'd be thinking oooh lovely 6cyl petrol engine noises.if only we had more electric range
I'd be imagining not having to unhitch whatever I'm towing, and being able to fill up in a matter of minutes. And I wouldn't have to worry about whatever campsite I'm going to has a charger. With the fastest EV public charging now being cheaper than filling up with fuel, it’s even less of reason to go hybrid for those rare, multi hundred mile immediate trips
you can do all these things with a tow hook and more when you have a suitable fuelling source. I've not been to many venues (hillclimbs and sprints) with a 7kw charging near by never mind 350w+ It was already mentioned a few posts before yours.Oh yes- the towing a house around the country scenario. That’s definitely a choice for sure.
Inline 6 - RRS or X5 is what we're looking at. Enough battery range for most of the mileage (school run, shops etc), huge towing capacity, and genuine cross Europe ability if required.Hybrid V6’s must be slim pickings?
Of course, although a lot of EVs can manage the weight of a trailer and light enough track/race car, but again you still have the charging/range issues.Plus towing a racecar, let's not forget the race car.![]()
Yeah, though as the 'short' range for me is 60-75 miles (season dependent), this is enough for a fair bit of EV mileage without needing the ICE and then long distance has the flexibility to choose whether recharging or petrol is most sensible - until very recently it was typically cheaper to run the ICE than to charge publicly.Fair enough - if gaming the system is working then fill your boots
For everyone else - I imagine the moment the short electric range has gone and the petrol engine kicks in the thoughts are ‘if only we had more electric range’

I've had a few try it on and be humbled by my M2. But they do move quickly for a large car, agreed.only model they ever did is 400bhp and it absolutely shifts!

That's really annoying as it looks like almost no one optioned it then as I can't see any in my price range on autotrader with it. That's a non-starter then as it's a must-have piece of equipment.Adaptive cruise is not standard on any model and you have to search for the symbol on the steering wheel but on the plus side they only model they ever did is 400bhp and it absolutely shifts!

Yeah, already looked that up. Thanks for the heads up about that as it's not something I would have thought was optional on such an expensive car.

Pretty much any BMW or Audi from the same era is similar (driving assistant professional, tour pack) in that adaptive cruise was an option, agree it is pretty shoddy. Newer Audi and Merc seem to have it as standard but BMW are keeping on with the bare bonesYeah, already looked that up. the ford explorer has the nice VAG 550 drivetrain - they seem to be suv bargains 2nd hand/dealer miles - don't know how much s/w they inherited too;I'd like to stay away from VAG products if possible. I've never had a good experience with any car from them and everyone I know who has owned ID4, Skoda Eniaq, Audi Q etc has had loads of issues.
If you can get your head round Elon musk, and you are buying your car outright and TBF even if you're not...it's a couple hundred quid an hour's work to fit a driver's display that integrates fully with the car and does not look out of place at all. The display is also removable without damaging the car should you choose to sell the car in future without the display.Tesla Model Y - I struggle with this because of Mr Musk. I also struggle with the lack of an instrument binnacle. I do like the Supercharger network though.

I’ll get the mods to ban me from the forum as to not risk mis-informing anyone else
Or name change to “Bad with Cars”
Oooh, that looks good. Yes, I'd be buying outright. Tell me more about that display. If you can get your head round Elon musk, and you are buying your car outright and TBF even if you're not...it's a couple hundred quid an hour's work to fit a driver's display that integrates fully with the car and does not look out of place at all.
