EV general discussion

So my delivery date has been pushed forward for 3 weeks time. I'm staying with EDF and going on their over night tariff. I need to get a charger installed, a family member installs them and he's saying to go Zappi, or should I just use the podpoint that EDF use/recommend?
Zappi.

There is no real contest there unless cost is an absolute issue.

Personally I’d get a hypervolt (or an Anderson if I was feeling flush) but yes Zappi out of those two.

Is that "commercial" vans, or all vans? While van based, I would have thought that both the PV5 and ID.Buzz passenger versions would be treated as cars in that respect?
If the V5 says Van, it’s a Van.

IIRC crew cabbed vans are all classed as vans on the V5.

I’m pretty sure that is the main reason people have them. They are also classed as a van for BIK and fuel benefit purposes (RIP double cab pickup trucks, may you long be remembered).

I don’t know if the ID.buzz is classed as van in passenger version as it doesn’t have a van bit.

I would choose a charger that's supported by Octopus, EDF and E.On. From memory this limits you to Hypervolt and Zappi, but there might be more.

Buzz Passenger version is classified as Body type MPV and Vehicle Category M1 so think that's a car :)

I thought as much and I expect the PV5 passenger version would be the same.

However, the PV5 also comes in a 5 seat crew cab version which will be a van:

Big BEV registrations September - I wonder why.

I've never had car sickness but I have noticed in the second gen Nissan Leaf for some reason I feel a touch nauseous as a passenger, not noticed it as a driver or in any other model EVs - I've been a passenger a bit in the original gen Leaf back in the early 2010s and never had any problem with that one.

I suspect one of the issues is the way they kind of "wuussh" up to speed messes with some people's perception of motion. My sister was terrible for it as kids even the difference between some ICEs models made a big difference as to whether she'd suffer car sickness or not.

It's definitely the go kart nature of the EV, much more start stop than a low power ICE

Failing batteries, burning cars, high depreciation.

Now it's motion sickness, all hail the fud.
My grandson gets motion sickness in his parents petrol car, yet it's fine in the wife and my evs.
I'm putting it down to driving styles.

I feel a bit rough with the way my wife drives her EV, she's very on off with the throttle which is which is much more noticeable with the regen.

But it’s not FUD regarding increased motion sickness. Lack of audio queues, poor drivers who think they are good at OPD, instant torque means EVs DO drive differently.

Even some of the self proclaimed experts at OPD have a subtle yet noticeable lack of smoothness in their driving.
