EV general discussion

Wrong thread for normal people I’m afraid.

Omhe is one of the first for intelligent go so pretty rare to actually up for normal go

another 5M+ , 2.5T tank size EV, as big as an S class.
If they had a 90/95% scaled version maybe the british buyer would be able manouver it on British roads,
or park in the many sub 5m supermarket places.

Perhaps it was conceived for the USA market before polestar encountered import duty problems there,
accompanied by the flogging off of excess capacity of other models in europe/uk.
Have you considered the car you describe is called a Polestar 2 which has been on the market for many years?

Is anyone else on normal octopus go with ohme? Not the intelligent. I recently changed tariffs so I chose the newer octopus go tariff in the ohme app, but the app starts trying to generate charging schedules throughout the day, on off peak rather than the 5 off peak hours. I have to setup a manual tariff (not that it’s any hassle to do so) to charge overnight, but just curious if anyone has seen this?
Been a while since using Ohme's app but you probably need to turn off dynamic charging and/or possibly turn on a price cap to restrict charging to cheaper period

You can probably make a custom tarriff based on time of use. Go doesn’t have quite as cheap off peak. Depends if octopus are happy to keep you on that tarriff if they don’t maintain control.

Might need you to remove device in octopus thinking about it though to allow a tarrif change in Ohme.

A place I'm looking at staying at states this:

EV charging points for Tesla vehicles only.

Why would that be, what's different?
If they're Tesla superchargers then some are only open to Teslas because they've locked them down to that.

Ah ok, well that's a bit crap. Might as well take our petrol car on this one as the charging options locally to where we are going is a bit poor (looking at ABRP)

Most likely older V2 chargers which generally aren't open to non Tesla cars - not sure if this is strictly capability related or not though

Newer chargers are more typically accessible to others unless restricted by other agreements (I think as an example some service stations with competing brands that charge more and 'own' the land/services won't agree to letting Tesla open up their cheaper chargers to everyone)

So trying to find something half decent on the route I get this:

So I have to use another app EWE membership to get the better rate? Looking at their app this seems to be free and no subscription, so what's the gain for them?

New Polestar 5 is genuinely a beautiful looking car. Wow.
But it also costs £90k and it will actually cost £90k as Polestar have a direct sales model similar to Tesla.

Polestar do offer discounts to people who don't have access to sal sal/business/company schemes : currently the P4 has multi discounts on offer across the different models.
For sure, it's unlikely the P5 will have any discounts soon, but it is around £40k cheaper than the equivalent Porsche Taycan / Audi eTron GT's

Which site is it? It could be legacy text/sign.

Tesla opened up most non-motorway chargers to all cars a few years ago. I can check in the app quickly for you if you don’t have it.

It's a hotel. We are going to do some hiking in the peaks and even looking in surrounding villages the charging options aren't great. The other options in the village we are staying are car parks 7kw and parking fees. I think for that faff we might as well just take the ICE this time as I will get there with 40% battery and will want to do some driving there.

Which hotel/location is it. I can check if it’s open to all. It likely is if it’s a hotel.

Edit: Mour Hotel at Annesley? That’s open to all. 37p overnight between 10pm and 8am, 71p during the day.
