My wife bought me "The Open Door" today and I'm liking it. Refreshling different sound. I heard they supported Metallica recently?

Hmmm... Dont think they have. I'm sure if they did they would have been booed off stage like just like HIM were at Wembley stadium.

Although I am probably completely wrong.

Not my cup of tea, I'm afraid, although the chick is hot

I find Amy Lee's voice utterly intoxicating. Bring me to Life from Fallen was one of the few things I've heard for the first time on Radio 1 that had me scampering off to go and find out about the band (although I did initially assume that Linkim Park had a guest singer).

I used to like them, well I say that but really I liked that one song when I was about 12 and got bored of them about a week later.

Lacuna Coil are ok, not much of a fan of any female fronted bands. Some Nightwish songs are awesome though, The Kinslayer, Beauty and the Beast, She is My Sin and Devil & the Deep Dark Ocean are my favourites.

Spie, if you get the option, if you get a chance pick up the Fallen album; superior to 'The Open Door' well IMO.
As mentioned Nightwish are also awesome, although you might find it easier to get into the latest Album; Dark Passion Play, as the new singer is a little easier to get into, Once is also an awesome album though :)
Within Temptation are actually worth a mention here, as they're a bit like a slightly more symphonic, heavy Evanescense (and good live).

Openmindedness with music is a good thing; some women make absolutely brilliant singers combined with the right band and attitude!

Sonata Arctica are actually pretty good but not what you're after. Different music style :)

- edit

Like a true heretic, I'm gonna admit I quite enjoyed HIM at Metallica 07, even if they were booed; you could actually hear the music up in the stands unlike Mastodon and BFMV which sounded like a wall of bass and noise! That said I think they can be boring live. Metallica kicked the ***p out of everyone else there though, got some pictures somewhere from my old shoddy digicam.

Indeed, Nightwish are great, I much prefer Tarja to Anette however, Tarja brought a unique quality to the band.

Nightwish are a bit Marillion for me.... much prefer Anette to Tarja, but respect the fact that Tarja is absolutely fantastic. Finnish girl I work with nearly put me through a tree chipper for suggesting Anette's more accessible, so I think the home crowd have their preference!

For the record, Hogarth is miles better than Fish ever was with Marillion!

how can you say that, Amy lee has one of the best voices in the whole of music, extreamly emotional vocals, especally song such as "like you" really emotional

In the whole of music? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH

That is all.

Sorry dude, Akerfeldt's light vocals convey a whole range of emotion than she could ever feel. And dont even get started on the growls!

Again, /fanboyism
