Eve Type Game

Hi all,
Does anyone know of a game that plays the same as eve online but is a single player version? Theres a release date for Elite 4 over on another site but I wanted something now. I used to love Eve, but never really got involved with any other people so kept getting blown up

hence the question reagrding a single player game of some sort.

Keep away from Spaceforce 2. It looks good when you read the feature list but is very poor and buggy.

X3 is the best option. But the learning curve is VERY high at first, so you'll need to read the official forums and all the guides in the stickied thread on the egosoft forums.

Plus the graphics are about 1000 times nicer than the new Eve graphics and run on a lesser gfx card than the new eve graphics with a playable frame rate.

Although apparently it's best experience on a joystick. I concur with the ridiculous learning curve. Egosoft forums are your friend.

X3 without a doubt. As others have stated, you can't just jump in and play. You will need to read the offical forums, there are some excellent guides on there.

Freelancer is ok aswell, and is probably the best elite 'lite' game I'm aware of.

Cheers for that. Another site has the thing for only £7.99!! Just read a review on it and it seems pretty damn good. Lets hope I'm better at it than I was with Eve.

don't forget if you register it with steam you can get the updates and new addins for free (IIRC)

You can get the new addons for free anyway. Download the patch for 1.0 to 2.5 (which includes the Bala Gi expansion) from the Egosoft website, then register on the egosoft website and registering the game (free) allows you to download the bonus pack to 3.1.07.

Everything else is player created mods like the Xtended Mod.

When you say users mods, what exactly is meant? If I wanted to create my own ship then I could? Or my own space station, commodity etc? What about ship addons, things like jump gates or afterburners?

I dont suppse theres something like Eve's exploration in X3 is there?

how do you meen exploration? they don't have scanning with probes to find deadspace complexes or anything like that but they do have items floating in space around some 'roids
