EventHorizon

About a tenner a day at the moment, but im being a bit silly right now. Still I don't smoke or go out to the pub on a regular basis so this is my hobby. And given the amount of family and friends ie lost to the illnesses the project is trying to help research cues for I don't think is to bad. But we are always chasing the power performance envelope. Or trying other madcap schemes.. im mining bitcoins at the moment to supplement my power costs.

Very apt this.

I was considering moving over from folding to mining now I am in the possession of two cards. I have always been fond of donating the cycles since DC first came out, by the way do you guys still churn out the folding even in this hot weather?

I woke up on Tuesday at 3am and had to open the window, plug in deskfan due to my two cards folding - must have been 26 degrees in the bedroom (my rig has been in here for years in the corner)

Back OT. Is folding bitcoins/litecoins worthwhile in your opinion and can you like in folding@home select only 60% as I would not be comfortable operating full out folding on air over the summer?

Thanks

Heh if I turn everything on, including the 7970's which should add another 250K AND I get the right WUs (nothing so depressing than getting the lowest performing WU on the highest performing kit) then I might be knocking on 3mil  that would put me at number 4 or 5 globally.

Probably get divorced before then.

How do you figure a 7970 is worth 250k?

An 8104 on Event Horizon would have done it ;)

BTW....

The 7970 you have....how did it perform on the 8900 wu's?

Just ran one for you, now mines flashed with a Ghz bios, but when I switched it over I forgot I had it on LiteCoin settings (905/1580) so it was pushing just over 90K PPD. When I put it onto the right settings it jumped up to 102K

How do you figure a 7970 is worth 250k?

I have two of them but yes maybe closer to 210K :)

Not sure not had a 680 since the new WU's came out. Think the 7970's stabilise around 110K looking at what others have got.

780 should certainly get you close to Titan performance, think within 10% or so. Its only Double Precision they nerfed on the 780 which Folding doesn't use.

My 680's range from 87k to 92k ppd - so no point me selling them to get the more power hungry 7970's for an extra 20k ppd each

Will have a look at the 7 series from Nvidia after work (and when the money has been refunded for the 7970's i ordered) ;)
