EventHorizon

???

The new EP-2600 V2's (upto 48 Hyperthread cores - 24 each) look to be quite good for a two CPU set-up.....thoughts?

EP-2600 V2, yes if you can find one at all, or if so for less than remortgage price, let alone a ES one! I think the 2695 looks like a good bet with 12 cores and a 2.4Ghz base speed, probably will boost to 3.1 maybe.

Hi, I found some FAH benchmark results for Xeon E5-2600 v2. I think it's not bad at all:

Code:
P8101: avg TPF=13m40s, PPD=344k
P8102: avg TPF=10m38s, PPD=501k
P8105: avg TPF=10m44s, PPD=482k

CPU is Xeon E5-2600 v2 2.0GHz 12c24t x2 (allcore turbo 2.4GHz), with SM X9DAi board and 4G DDR3 1333 memory x8.

Yes took longer than the weekend unfortunately, plus I had to buy the RAM from 4 different suppliers including Amazon  but at least I had free delivery from each one. Still waiting for the letter from UK customs to pay the bill before the CPU's will be delivered.

Holy 1 million PPD only from using the 4 Xeons Batman!!!

Are these unlocked in some way Biffa? Or do they run 3.1 stock on turbo?

Ooh lordy thats going to hurt :D Thanks oceaness! LOL

I don't think that you should be looking at such thing biffa  , you will probably turn green if you see it written down , ( even though you know your electricity is sky high in your head )

that's something people forget, not only are you donating huge amounts of work, you electricity is huge amounts also

I think you deserve to be saluted haha

Thanks, I think its something that all of us have to come to terms with. Unfortunately I have one of those digital thingamywotsits that tells me at a glance how much my monthly bill is going to be

Ha ha, sorry, should have put that in spoiler tags :p

I agree I'm currently frustrated with the fact my Electricty usage is about £40 a month, let alone the kinda of money the big producers like Biffa must be spending, respect to them for that it's a huge commitment. No doubt mine will go up a bit since I've started my 2 computers folding again, only on the CPU's at least to try and minimize the impact on my bank account.

I have one of the plug-in things lying around somewhere, but I've just requested a free Energy Smart monitor from British Gas that will monitor the total.

This spreadsheet is handy for pre-build analysis using this PSU calculator for a rough idea of wattage. If anyone's interested click the image to download it.
