You were at a gig and the support band came on who weren't well known and you thought "this band are going to be big and one day I'll be able to say I was there".

My 'I WAS THERE' moments would include an unknown band called Queen supporting Mott The Hoople.
Van Halen supporting Black Sabbath,
Iron Maiden supporting Judas Priest,
Watching The Darkness in a pub before they made it,
and theres bound to be more I can't think of at the moment.

I honestly think I'm going to have another 'I WAS THERE' moment on October 28th at The Sugarmill in Stoke. The bands The Answer and Roadstar are playing a gig together and I think one or both are heading for the top.

I used to get drunk with a fat bird who sang the blues in a club in Southend many many moons ago. She was a great laugh and drank me under the table.
I used to rave about this bird but everyone else took the **** out of me.
Alf was her name. ;)

I guess that would Coldplay supporting Muse in 2000, just before Yellow was released; so literally on the cusp of them hitting the big-time. Quite liked them at the time, mainly for the 'guitarist who sounds a bit like The Edge'. Not seen them since ;).

I am very good friends with the family of a music teacher who has nurtured some prodigous talent. We'd often get them to do a solo when we were all getting drunk and they're singing would bring a tear to your eye. None of them are famous yet but I think one is at RADA and I'd be surprised if they didn't make it. So yeah, I've got a few 'I was there' moments in the bank.

Funeral for a Friend supporting Boysetsfire?

More of an "I was there" moment because after that, Boysetsfire never came back to Scotland.

We all used to post on a forum with dmpoole before he hit it big time

I saw Mega City 4 a few times years ago, must have been a good fifteen years ago at least.. they gigged around Reading/Guildford/Basingstoke area? I even had an old demo of theirs, included a cool song called "Behind Closed Doors".

i guess arctic monkeys before they hit it big, and milburn (they're not big yet, but it looks likely)

Same as that really. Seeing arctic monkeys in early last year no way near sold out. I don't think it would be right to compare to likes of arctic monkeys and milburn to bon jovi and queen. :p

Aye that's why I said "I guess" :p as they do seem somewhat of a comedown from Queen etc. but they are a good band, rubbish live though -__-

I was there......at Daft Punk playing their first and last performance in the UK (as robots at least, possibly altogether) for nine years at Global Gathering.

Blimey, nine years is a long set to play. Didn't your legs get tired?

There's a local band that could be big one day. But I have to say that since one of my friends is in the band :p

Still, I think they are really good plus the lead singer will have sex appeal in a few years. And they do take it seriously, it's not like they are some random kids who just decided to make a band one day.

Locrian - why have you said that and gave me two roll eyes
Haven't you ever seen a support band that you knew were going to be big?

Pathetic.
