Ever play a game for the sake of it?

Thanks for the suggestions Streeteh, is that Sony F1 game available on other platforms and what's it's title?

No worries. The game is Formula One Championship Edition, sadly as it is developed by a Sony owned studio (formerly Psygonsis) it is only released on the PS3. A price drop is rumoured to be announced for the PS3 at E3 this year so maybe one day you could invest, it's got some pretty decent racers imo, none on par with the 'true' realism racers on the PC but the usual names like Gran Turismo and Ferarri Challenge are still top quality games imo. The fact that it supports the big named PC steering wheels is an excellent feature of the console for me.

On the wheel front, having tried the xbox 360 wheel i would say the driving force pro (which i own) is far better and that's the model BELOW the G25. By all accounts the G25 in turn decimates my driving force pro which must make it an insanely good wheel.

Sorry, taken this thread completely off topic.

Red Alert 3. Tried playing this but it was utter carp!

FarCry 2. Think I nodded off after 10 minutes, what a waste of money that was.

Assasins creed: Most pathetic game ever.

Half life 2: Wanted it to end so badly I was almost vomitting.

Farcry: A joke.

There arent many good games, which is why people play the good ones over and over and "hope" for the next good release. Meanwhile the game companies rake it in on their mediocre titles with their hype and magazine/online reviews.

I think your point about hype in games (or anything for that matter) is a fair one though in my case Farcry is still one of the best games I have ever played. :)

Sometimes, like the other evening, I couldn't be bothered to reinstall a couple of games I have yet to finish. So out of habit I just fired up some css.

i cant say i have done it with a game i didnt like, i have however continued to play a game that i was sick of just because i was too lazy to get up and change the game :p

World of Warcraft definately made me feel like I was playing for the sake of it, especially after the latest addon. I'd log on and sometimes do nothing at all but hang in a city checking the AH or absently minded flying round mining or doing my ten thousandth (or so it felt) daily quest..... I've stopped playing it now.

Oblivion... and then Fallout 3.

I dont what it is about these games, they look like they should be good, many people think they're awesome. But I just cant get into either of them, despite the fact I actually finished Fallout.

I dunno, I just feel like my decisions to do X or Y have absolutely no meaning in the game, making it kinda pointless.

Half Life 1.

Now, I know I might get a lot of backlash for this, but the lack of decent graphics and less 'action-y' gameplay put me off after a few levels. I was also having a few occasional bugs with doors and stuff which got on my nerves.

I had no problems with HL2, loved that. I'm not saying HL1 is a bad game, I can see the appeal, but its just a few years too late for me. I will go back and force myself to complete it sometime :)

Gears Of War ...wow i hate that game, i really tried hard to like it and i normally love games with co-op but even that didnt help. i only played it in co-op for the sake of a co-op game but it really made me sick. ok it wasnt that bad but the thought of playing it again is painful.

hl2 ep1......played it all the way through(took abt 2 years no joke) it was a game i forced myself to play every once in a while just because i loved the first one so much.
i went back every so often and completed hl2 inbetween but hl2 ep1 just seem to drag and never want to end. ep2 ive heard is better but ep1 has left such a sour taste im reluctant on starting the next episode.

Did you start to play HL when it came out or later? Just out of interest.

Red Alert 3. I uninstalled it probably never to be installed again when I sent a massive mix of units into a computer's base having just superweaponed it, and they still didn't destroy anything worthwhile. :(

Single player was alright though until the mission where you have to rely on a unit controlled by the ai for your protection :(

Give me RA2 any day of the week

World of Warcraft is the king of this.

Only Jokester will know what i'm on about, but since the guild I was in with him the first time (Surreal | Kilrogg EU) disbanded i've not enjoyed the game anywhere near what I did upto that point. Both TBC and WotLK feel like poor attempts to milk the franchise for some money. But still I feel like the game owes me something, so I repeatedly reroll, repeatedly do the same quests over and over and repeatedly go through getting a guild and raiding even though inside, i'm not really up for it.

Yup WoW springs to mind for me, back in the days of Vanilla WoW having killed everything I only logged on to meet raid times and farm consumables for raids. This later continued in trend having come back to play TBC then WoTLK. Quitting again a few months ago for possibly the fifth time!
