Ever play a game for the sake of it?

pc version of gow, just to say I played it. however never finished as the save game vanished near the end. took a week just to get to play the game reading on forums that system files needed updating (game doesnt install latest) just to get the game stable. Bit of a chore to play with the lack of any kind of story and the levels were all very ..samey. Im sure for consolers it was all very new and great, but as a pc player its just same old .

UT3 I finished and I would call it more frustrating then fun with the Enemy AI seemed to be constantly gunning for me and my team doing no work at all. did allow to see how the levels worked before laying online and the few cutscenes did give a sense of something to achieve (unlock next cutscene). was quite annoyed it didnt let me play the instagib card for the final showdown though ;)

Gears of War I found boring and pointless and repetative. Run and then hide/fire till they die, run a bit more, hide/fire. Rinse and repeat. Very dark and bland too.

I like everyone else UT3. I've never been a massive fan of the unreal series but i saw vids and pics of this and thought hot damm that looks excellent. Then though online play would be sweet too.
But then i got it and started playing the single player mode. urgh most boring thing ever played.

Assasins creed: Most pathetic game ever.

Half life 2: Wanted it to end so badly I was almost vomitting.

Farcry: A joke.

There arent many good games, which is why people play the good ones over and over and "hope" for the next good release. Meanwhile the game companies rake it in on their mediocre titles with their hype and magazine/online reviews.

Most FPS's. I try and like them as they are supposed to bring something new to the PC but almost every god damn game is a FPS.

What happened to indinuity? Where are the platformers, shoot-em-ups, futuristic sports games, etc.

What happened to decent RPGS granted theres diablo 3 coming out soon but every rpg lately seems to be mmos.
Games like Balders Gate and Icewind Dale. Dont even dare trying to the witcher that was damm awful.

Yeah, Crysis.

Played it because it was uber hyped, got very very bored very very quickly and decided to watch a film instead.

Yes, it was pretty, but I play a game for gameplay, not asthetics. And the gameplay in Crysis didnt engage me one bit.

I agree, all FPS games at the moment are just tweaks or rip-offs of other stuff. We need something fresh and new. Some decent platformers or something? I was kinda hoping Speedball 2 would be a fast paced action packed fun fest.... Needless to say it wasnt.

Agreed. Would love to see more stuff like BG3 out. Never Winter Nights is okay for a quick blast now and again. I'd also love to see stuff like Dungeon Master - that was epic and I still play it to this day I would love something like that or Bloodwych.

Didn't like The Witcher myself - played it for a little while and then gave up on it - it was completley bugged on release and the combat / quests were quite boring. Most of it done by time as well (i.e. meet girl in barn at midnight) so I didn't like that trying to force me to be somewhere at a specific time.

Patch may have changed things but I'm not bothering again maybe with the release of the new upgrade I'll have a look.

Bought a game called "The Mark" because I love FPSs and B-Movies, and the tagline was brilliant; Two Agents, Ten Millions Lives to Save! Ended up playing through it just to get my ten Euros' worth. :P

I might just do so this weekend with Spore.. Not sure it's my thing but I might give it a go.. See what it's all about.. Kids will most likely enjoy it though.

Been playing wow for the sake of it for the last 2 years...Mainly because friends and brother like to play it all the time.

Not renewed my account for the last 2 months though. Hoping warhammer is a good alternative.

Deus Ex - several times in fact. Everyone was just raving about it so much I felt I should give it a go. Got to the oil tanker I think before realising I really wasn't enjoying myself at all.

Its almost become routine for me to say Farenheit in threads such as this. Someone will always come along and say it was the best game ever but to me after the very very good first hour the rest of the game became so tedious and random it defied belief. It is only through sheer bloody mindedness I got through the stinking mess and defineatle was just playing it for the sake of it.

Bioshock. Thought "**** it paid good money for this" so played it untill what i thought was the end, turned out to be a huge twist and i was like "noooooooooooo not more to play" so just watched the ending cinematic on youtube and uninstalled.

No disguised swearing.

Amazingly surprised at Half life 2, i thought it was brilliant throughout; and i suppose i am in the minority for Assassins Creed but i loved every second of that also.
