Anyone here play EQ2?

I've recently had an urge to start a MMORPG again. I used to play Everquest (I absolutely loved it) when I was younger and it was my first step into the MMORPG world so I thought EQ2 would be my best bet, especially after all the time its been out and patched and tweaked etc.

So anyone still play it? I made a dark elf character on Splitpaw yesterday :D

Quick question: I downloaded the free 14 day trial and made an account with it, but I also bought the actual game from an online shop. Is it possible to somehow attach the account I've made from the free trial to the registration code I got with the game? Or will I have to make a new one?

I'm just wondering because the game has a free 30 day period and comes with a bonus mount (i think.)

Went back to Eq2 in the summer last year after trying it briefly when i quit EQ1 a few years previous...
The game is now very polished and i found it great fun getting a couple of toons up the levels...

I'd reccomend it... but make sure you have some fast RAM... cus i'm still using my EQ1 rig and its struggling unsurprisingly :)
If anyone has some decent speed DDR1 memory going spare, give me a hollar!

Yup, on Runnyeye these days, got a decent sized guild on there too which helps.

You can but you'll lose the 30 days free as it is only for new accounts and a trial account isn't new.

Which box did you buy? If it was anything but The Shadow Odyssey I hope it's still sealed so you can get a refund.

I was thinking of re subbing, but how is the population these days? I heard it went down hill about a year ago?!

Assuming you're on a Euro server and going by how Runnyeye seems it's pretty darn good, the only issues a lot of people find is the lack of groups where lower levels are concerned as it is easier to just solo up to the level cap, although that's changing with all the capped people mentoring for achievement points.

Yeah i bought the Shadow Oddyssey :)

Well I'm only level 10 on Splitpaw and so far I've hardly seen other players :( After about 7 hours playing, 99% of the other players I have seen have been level 80's.

Its actually making me second think my decision to subscribe to the game. I was going to actually register my game on the weekend, but if the game is going to be so empty until I reach the last levels, then I dont know whether I should bother.

I might try a US server or something and see how populated it is. There is more content in this game than any other MMORPG I've played, but there no point if no one else plays :p

I played it when it came out, and again when they let returning players play for free for a couple of months. Its a fun game, as you say theres loads of content but i did find not so many players. Perhaps try to find a guild that has a number of just starting players and group with them.

the problem for new players with all mature mmo games is that most of the player base knows exactly what they are doing , they lvl really fast many will not group with players they do not know etc. (I could go 0 to 80 in a matter of a few days played)
However there are still plenty of guilds look for a bigish casual guild and you will do well as there are also loads of people who are alt addicts and have loads of low lvl characters that would love to group with you.
I have currently quit but EQ2 for me is the best of the mmorpgs the game is very mature loads of content , solo and group friendly.

You can get to level 20 in a matter of hours so you're unlikely to find many people grouping, it does get better, maybe roll a character on Runnyeye and come join our guild, as has been said most grouping is happening at the high end of the game but that wont stop you from starting your own as people will join for achievement experience, especially if you are asking guildmates.

I can be found playing either Nuladen or Meed on Runnyeye, send me a tell if you need any help.
