Everybodies favourite rep mobile - All new for 2013

Hopefully they've sorted out the interior materials quality. My Mk4 Titanium X Estate I had was a lovely car but the dash left a lot to be desired. Also, the fancy LCD dash/clocks was nice in theory but offered no additional information over the bog-standard black/red screen in the base spec. model. Just a different interface, in fact a bit slower to use than the base spec model's.

It wants to be a Jag XJ and an Aston all at the same time from that front end.

I don't really notice that many Mondeo's on the road really, I tend to notice far more entry level BMW's and Audi's. Is the Mondeo becoming one of the best kept secrets of the car world?

Now i think about it i haven't seen that many recently.

New one looks like it crashed straight into an aston, quite nice but a bit odd.

It didnt make the Top 10 best selling cars of 2011.

Indeed. I dont see many current shape Mondeos about.

Many more 320D and A4/A5 2.0TDI

Nay! I notice more Kias on the road now than ever before. Soon as I get close to work though the C classes, 320d and 520d as well as A4 TDIs show their faces.

It's strange as 10-15 years ago when you used to see a BMW you'd think "their doing well for themsleves", now it's "Efficient Dynamics; that must be good for his P11D".

Whats interesting is that its based on all new platform which they are sharing with the US market fusion.

Ford Europe and Ford america had always been quite happy making separate cars on separate platforms. Why the need to start platform sharing now ? cost cutting ?

I must admit, i sat in the current Titanium X with half leather interior and it was much nicer than the old interior, especially with NAV on it.

See I sat in a Titanium X on the weekend on my search for a comfy estate and to be honest I didn't like it. Felt cheap with shiny plastic, I was quite disappointed. I know they're not a premium car but I thought things had moved on.

Not many cars are really "premium" feeling any more. A few years back BMW and Audi had premium feeling interiors on 3 series and A4s but not any more, the plastics have gone hollow and lighter, the leather feels smoother and cheaper and the doors just don't have that heft when you open and shut them. There's also dashboard creaking and sharp styling cues that don't flow as nice as they once used to.
