Everyday branded products vs unknown equivalent

Asda twix copies are better by miles.

Agree on the Kellogg’s Crunchy Nut, nothing else comes close.

Of the big supermarkets Asda Do by far the best Strawberry Milkshake. Any other I’ve tried is thin, and in some cases tasteless.

Waitrose own brand are the best of the rest, but Kellogg’s are just way tastier for both Crunchy Nut and Frosties.
Frosties... ugh. May as well just spoon sugar directly into your mouth :p

Used to love em as a kid, mind :p Can't tolerate that much sugary crap these days!

This reminds me, a few years ago I happened to be pulling up in the car as a neighbour and her husband were unloading their shopping. They're a nice old couple but she tends to be a bit on the vain side, a bit like Mrs Bucket in the nicest possible way.

Anyway, I stopped for a chat and helped them with their shopping bags and didn't give the bags or their contents a second thought. I could see that something was bothering her though and it wasn't long before I found out what it was:

"We don't usually shop at Aldi, you know - we just pop in there every now & then. We normally shop at Waitrose."

It's amused me ever since. :)

Sainsbury's tried dropping Jordan's granola for their own brand but it was markedly inferior.

Not sure if its the case now but 10 years ago it was made in the same factory. I'll have to check a pack to see if they're done on the same line still.

When buying power tools, for example an impact driver, if a Makita provides X amount of force and X amount of battery life, and a cheap knock-off provides 50% the force and 50% the battery life, but costs 25% as much, do you buy the knock-off or the genuine article?

Something I always struggle with. :P

The genuine one as it likely does a far better job.

I’ve got loads of cheap tools that I use for work...Bergen/US Pro Tools etc...the kind that you find at car boots etc.
I’d usually spend more on tools that get hard/constant use but for things that only get used on rare occasions the cheaper is usually fine

I have a bag to hand and it says its made in Biggleswade. But I normally go for the Super Berry Granola and it has noticeably more fruit than the Sainsbury's own brand had.
