Ill start off with a simple statement: 2=1.

Its true, look here:

if a=b then

a²=ab
a²-b²=ab-b²
(a-b)(a+b)=b(a-b)
a+b=b
b+b=b
2b=b
so
2=1


If you think thats bad, 0=1 ! which means that on=off, yes=no, false=true...

0=0+0+0...
0=(1-1)+(1-1)+(1-1)...
then when you move the parenthesis
0=1+(-1+1)+(-1+1)+(-1+1)...
0=1+0+0+0...
therefore
0=1


And what about our money system. all our money is worth nothing that we thought it was

£1=100p
=(10p)²
=(£0.10)²
=£0.01
=1p


and if we can still agree that 0=1 then 1p=0p so we are all infact broke :(

and we teach this stuff in schools :eek:

Where p=2:

100p = (100*2) = 200
(10p)² = 10p*10p = (10*2)*(10*2) = 20*20= 400

Therefore 100p != (10p)² (Except where p=1)


I'm sure the others are equally incorrect :)

Im sure the first one doesn't work either. By introducing -b^2 on either side all you are doing is stating 0=0, then you divide 0 by 0, which isn't definable.

Err, yeah. That's like me saying 1+1=2. BUT if I changed the + to a -...OMGZZZZWTF it = 0

But (a-b) = 0 as a = b, and dividing by 0 is a big no-can-do!
