***EVGA P55 thread***

That is a lovely looking mobo mate!!

It is isn't it, just a pity OcUK haven't had it in stock for weeks now :( More people need to buy this board and bask in the glow of the pulsating red E

Do evga boards come with that lifetime warranty like the graphics cards ?

This board comes with a three year warranty providing you register within 30 days.

How comes you didn't use the tuniq tower then ? it doesn't fit ?

Granted I could have used the Tuniq Tower, but I wanted a 1156 specific heatsink for it really, rather than have a slightly off centre bracket on my board.
It has to be said though that the scythe has performed brilliantly, even with its push pin fitting.

I guess I'm just a bit of a hardware whore as well, I like to check the new shiny stuff out :D
At the time of purchase the Scythe was one of only a handfull of half decent heatsinks that came with an 1156 bracket.

Just a quick update:

Have recently got 2 x 260 GTXs for a bit of sli action, this has caused a few issues on this board to say the least.
Sli does not appear to work correctly on the A29 bios using win 7 64bit. It will POST and start to boot, but after the windows 7 splash screen it just hangs on a black screen with the cpu doing something as the temperature goes up quite significantly. To start with I thought this was a driver issue but after spending hours on this problem I have finally found the solution.

So I updated to the A39 bios and sli was then working fine, however this bios seemed to effect my usb wireless N card in that it would not connect to my wireless network no matter what I tried. I could get the driver to install properly but it just wouldn't function correctly. Had a quick look on the EVGA forum and somebody else has had EXACTLY the same problem. The same issue occurs on the A35 bios too!

The fix? well I've had to flash my bios to the original A19 bios which the board came with. I'm hoping EVGA come up with some sort of solution soon, as it seems a lot of people are having some very strange USB related problems with the current bios.

So if you're planning on running 2 cards with this board with I'd probably suggest not to go with the A29 bios, however A29 was rock solid with a single card. Any of the bioss since A29 seem to introduce various USB issues which hopefully EVGA are working on right now.

EDIT: Now working fine on the A39 bios after changing my Netgear WN111v2 usb wireless dongle for a Netgear WG111T usb dongle. However I have had to use the modified Raf1uk drivers found here, seems like Netgears driver development team need a good kick up the backside.

New beta BIOS released

A48 Updates:

Improved USB compatibility.

Download here

Hopefully this will cure some small annoyances concerning some USB devices for a few people including myself :)

Hi
I'm getting one of these boards with an i5 750 but not sure what ram to get any ideas.
Also 4gb or 8gb.
With the i5 750 do you have to look out for special ones .

Thanx

Well the G-Skill Ripjaws work well for me, although they obviously interfere a little with my heatsink. The Geil 2133MHz stuf would probably be better as they don't have the big heatsinks on and they're cheap too.

You can't go wrong with Corsair and OCZ either, just make sure you get the 1.65 volt stuff.

New BIOS out

A51 Updates:

Improves USB Compatibility

New CPU Support

Improves Memory Compatibility

ClockGen Switch Mode Disable Option to not power up twice.

coupe69 - 2 questions, 1st how do you attach a Vantage result like that and 2nd what voltages did you settle on for 4.0GHz?
Great result by the way!

I have got mine stable at 4.0 GHz now, I had to increase the CPU VTT voltage by 0.1v.
I can nearly match you an CPU performance 46618 (I suspect your RAM timings may be tighter than mine?)
However my GPU score is only 20297. I suspect that you have been doing some overclocking with those 260 GTXs ;)

To attatch the Vantage result all I did was print screen, paste and crop in paint then upload to photobucket :)

As for overclocking my GPU's yes you're right I did oc them a little bit ;)

CPU VTT if I remember rightly was 1.350v, and ram timings were 8-8-8-24.

I'm now running at a rather modest 3.6GHz on a daily basis, with far lower voltages all round.

That would mean a new psu too, and I really wanted to get a 1080p 120Hz monitor next, this Samsung is just too small!

I tell you what, you buy my remaining 55nm 260 from me and I'll consider it :p
