EVGA RMA Equivalent with other manufacturers

Do you have first hand experience of doing this? If so, were they OK posting the return to a different address than is on the invoice?

If you can find the Gigabyte reps name and search for his posts here in the month of the 1080 release he stated that whilst this was current practice, it wasn't official policy and may change without notice in future.

This is like the 970 VRAM denial all over again. :D

EVGA have redesigned the cooler because there is an issue. Just because it didn't affect you as an individual, it doesn't mean it ceases to exist.

true, but if people are not affected then no one is going to care. Exactly like it happened with the 970.

Been running a 1080 SC ACX with a 4K monitor since June,
my lad games on it 4-6hrs daily - it's never missed a beat.

Not saying people didn't have issues.:)

You got any links saying they redesigned the cooler because off the issue?

I have seen no issue, you seem to want to make an issue of it. It is nothing like the 970 debacle, I see no denial and I see no people with issue's as if what you are intimating is true as I said I would expect to see a lot more posts about failures.

Please feel free to post facts, links etc. to back up what you are saying without trying to muddy the waters with the 970 issue which is nothing to do with what we are talking about. Maybe long term issues could arise, I have no idea.

Exactly. Well said mate.

Could you two maybe go back and read the OP and decide if you have anything to contribute that's relevant? The amount of RMA is totally irrelevant.

Edit to add: this has gotten a bit too focused on the validity of the EVGA VRM situation. Just to restate the point, if I were buying for keeps then I'd be more than happy with the EVGA warranty even if the card did turn out to have VRM issues. The point of this thread is that I've sold both my 980ti and am now looking for a short term card until the 1080ti or better is released. My go to card is usually EVGA but I've decided not to risk the second hand resale value in this instance.

If anyone has any suggestions to an EVGA alternative in terms of warranty for second hand buyers, I'd appreciate the info.

At this point, I'm considering the Zotac card with the 5 year warranty, albeit the second hand buyer will have to rely on me for any warranty claims.

I ended up buying a Gigabyte card for £529.99 but I'm finding this quite interesting:

I can't see how anyone can deny there was an issue when EVGA have went to this kind of trouble. Has there ever been a service where you could send your card back to have a revised cooler model?

Fair play to them, the customer service is tremendous but I feel for people who don't hear about this in time and end up with a card that has reduced second hand value (and potential overheating risk).
