I have recently RMA'd an 8800GTS 640 Mb to EVGA in Germany as it was dead.
They have sent me a 9600GT in its place without any communication at all.
The specs for the 9600GT are slightly lower than the card it replaces, especially as the old old card was 320bit and the new one 256bit, fewer shader processors etc.
I can see the advantages of this card (less power draw), smaller etc. but tbh if it doesn't cut the mustard as well as the 8800 then they can have it back!
You can buy the 9600GT for well under £100 but the 8800 still retails way above that, one assumes because it is still a better card.
Anyones experience of both would especially be appreciated.
Should I be happy with this replacement or not?
