Exceeds marked bay area - really?

That's some **** poor parking - if I was trying to get in to one of the bays behind you wouldn't be a popular person. If the car doesn't fit park it somewhere else.

Regardless, as above they still can't go dishing out unjustifiable fines so you're unlikely to have to pay if approached properly

haha, have you ever seen the website you park like a see you next tuesday?!
pretty sure this will feature on it.
If you can't park it, get a smaller car

I'd be totally agreeing with you if I'd parked like this:

Parking%20Charge%20Pic3.jpg

But it's not quite the same, is it?

It does my head in when people decide to park like that. You are clearly inside someone else's space. The silver car next to you seems to be of similar size to yours and the person has parked with the back hanging out. You should have done the same imo

Ok, so what I'm gathering is that:

1) Cars have parked in all the surrounding spaces and so I haven't caused them financial loss.
2) The space isn't big enough for my car, I paid for a parking space and was supplied one too small. Either the parking spaces are too small or BMW need to reclassify their vehicles.

I realise my parking isn't fantastic here, but I don't think its £100 bad.

You've definitely parked too far back. If you follow the lines from the hashed section you can see you had another couple of feet to the front.
Aint exactly straight either...

It's clear that you could easily have parked better, as a result of bad parking you've gone into 2 other spaces.
I wish you good luck, it's going to be a hard one to fight.

So what should I have done? Park further forward and have the front of my car jutting out into the road?

Not sure if the BMW was parked there when you got there, but had you pulled forward I doubt you would have stuck out further than him.

If you look the front of the bays they are open ended the rear is not.

What would you have done IF the two cars behind had been there already?
Typical BMW driver................

As far as I can see:
1) My wheels are all within the marked bay area.
2) The front of my car is aligned with the front white markings.
3) The parking bay is on a corner, if I'd parked further forward there was the danger that other cars turning could damage my vehicle.

I'm intending to appeal to PPS directly first, and then to IAS, highlighting the points above, does anyone have any advice which would help?
1) No they're not.
2) No they're not.
3) Was that the only parking space available at the time?

You had to place your car within the three white lines, not within three parking places. If you need to use three parking places, then buy three parking tickets.

Whilst I agree with your numbered points, he is clearly not 'using' 3 parking spaces.

Dear Sir, thank you for your speculative invoice, however as you do not have the right to punitive damages, please respect my right to protection from harassment under the Protection from Harassment Act 1997 and either cease this matter instantly or issue court proceedings.

Further attempts at coercion or further speculative invoices WILL be treated as harassment and will be dealt with accordingly.

Yeah i don't get where people are saying he's using 3 spaces. His front left wheel is slightly over the line, but there is no bay there.

You're stuffed. As other's have said, your car has to fit within the bay, not just the wheels. As you can see from the picture, a car can have wheels within one space and still be preventing another driver from using the adjacent space. If you'd left the front sticking out, you probably still wouldn't have been within the bay. Your car doesn't fit in the parking spots in that car park.

You might be able to argue the terms of the contract, the cost of the claimed losses, etc, but I doubt you'll get away with claiming "my wheels were in the marking, it's not my fault my car is too huge and takes up three spots anyway".

I did read a while back that a lot of older parking places were getting their bays redrawn because today's larger cars just don't fit into the spaces anymore.

I think as Steampunk mentioned. I don't think you'll be able to contest the appeal, But a court should lower that fine by a substantial amount. The parking company have provided their own evidence that they haven't incurred loss of earnings as you can clearly see a smaller car has managed to park behind you.
