Excessive HDD Vibration

As the title says i bought a Toshiba 3TB from OcUK and it seems to be vibrating excessively even when idle. My RAID1 array too keeps on randomly having to rebuild itself from my Seagate 3TB drive. Unplugging the Toshiba drive gets rid of pretty much all the vibration in my case.

Should i RMA it and get a Seagate instead? The drive is only about 1 week old.

What RAID adapter or are you using motherboard?

The DT01ACA300 are noisey but to be expected with the being the cheapest 3TB generally.

It's the onboard Intel RAID controller.

I have 4 of those drives and one has the same problem. I couldn't bear the noise with it in my case but it seemed to work fine so I stuck it in a USB enclosure and now use it as a backup drive. Wish I'd RMA'd it really.

I had to put my spinning drive on foam to stop it vibrating.

Looks like i'm returning it then, have made a post in the CS section. The vibration it's producing is certainly not normal, even for a mechanical drive.

OcUK have refunded the vibrating Toshiba drive, a new Seagate 3TB is now on it's way.
